hello, i am 13 years old i think i have ocd. i do many weird things. for example. if i touch something with my right hand i think that i will be killed or my family will, but if i retouch something with my left hand 3 times, that thought will get ignored for a while. i also make weird sounds like lip smacking and mouth noises that sometimes i dont even know i am doing it! also i wonder if you could tell me if something led me to pick out all of my eye lashes because i don't know why i did it, and i still do. sometimes i dont even know i am doing it. i want them to grow back too. but the noises and re touching stuff really bothers me alot. please help!

I am not a doctor, but it does sound like OCD. I have ocd, and while I don't have to touch things with my hands like that, I always have the feeling that something bad will happen to my family if I don't do certain things. These certain things are different all the time...just stuff that comes up. Alot of times, If I don't say I love you when hanging up the phone after talking to my mother, I will think something bad will happen to her. I would go to a doctor if you think its out of hand. I currently take Celexa and Luvox and they are both working very well for me.
Good Luck!! ![]() "This too shall pass"

I also pull out my eyelashes sometimes. Never enough to notice though.
I never thought that it had to do with OCD, but I bet it does! ![]() "This too shall pass"

Compulsive hair pulling is called trichotilliamania and it is a form of OCD. A very good website to go to in order to get more information is:
http://www.ocfoundation.org/ocf1010a.htm However, none of us are doctors so I would advise you strongly to talk with your talk doctor and your parents so you can get the best support possible. You don't have to suffer. Good Luck! And keep us updated ![]() |

Hi there,
I just read your post, and I would suggest you consult a therapist, with working on this with professional help and sometimes medication, you can have control over these habits. I will not say 100% but you can work through this, you need to seek professional help, do not feel embarrassed to do so, it really can help you. Take care, DE In giving advice seek to help, not please your friend SOLON

Chad,
Yep the form of hair pulling is called trichtillomania. I also suffer from it. I have pulled out all of my eyebrows over the course of many years and still do. I have been told that it is a form of OCD. Unfortunately no therapist has been able to help me. I have heard that Prozac is suppose to help with the urges but it never really helped me. I was told I would have to go to a behavioral counselor for years to help me reverse this disorder and that it might not even work! I know how frustrating this is and that it is a constant struggle everyday. I wish that I had eyebrows but I just feel like I cannot stop. If you feel the need to talk to me about this some more please feel free. Stay strong, Jessica You are in this snowglobe. It is encovered in glass and secure. But one day someone comes and shakes the globe and the pieces go flying everywhere. Now they will eventually settle but they won't be the way they were before and they can never be that way again.

Hey Chad,
I think it would be a good idea to tell your parents about the things that are bothering you. ALso, show them a website that you can find by using a search engine about OCD if they don't know about it. I have ocd and it sounds a lot like it. Don't worry you can get help. Just keep trying. |
