Next week, I will be totally alone. My partner returns to work. He will be the week days out in a far city so I will be forced to go out at least three times a day to take my doggies out and I’m freaking out. Also, I’m afraid my low mood and anxiety is gonna increase.

It looks like my husband will be going back to work soon. He works for the government and on Friday, the president announced that government workers are supposed to go back to work this week. To top it off, they are calling his agency essential.

I am worried because he deals with the public and his office is in an area with a high number of cases - enough for that a municipal quarantine was declared.

I have seen footage of what happens when offices like notaries that have been closed for a while open back up. It was chaos. No one was respecting distances, only some had masks.

Add that to the fact that the government has not developed a clear plan to protect workers. Some of the employee associations are opposing it. Workers at the district attorney offices have requested an injunction to avoid having to go to work unless more is done to protect their safety.

I hope he at least can avoid it while the quarantine is in effect.

I'm struggling because I live alone. I am able to talk to and see people virtually, but the only living thing I can touch is my cat. Thank God for him, but I really need human contact too.

Is there already a date for that? I mean for enlarging the types of essential workers in your country? Hope they don’t do it until workers can feel safer. I guess even in professional of the Health System are finding difficulties to receive protection stuff.

The announcement was made by the president on Friday that this week they had to go back. No planning whatsoever, no indication of protective gear being provided. So far, my husband is still working from home. Their agency has a legal resolution not to go back until the end of the month. He says this has more force than some random announcement. May 1st is a holiday, so he's probably looking at May 4th at the earliest. I really hope that by then, there is some sort of plan in place. The courts say they won't open until May. Since their work is closely related to the court system, there are a lot of limitations on what they can do.

Today someone from the health ministry backpedaled somewhat and said the return to work will be gradual. What would make most sense is to at first not allow people to come into the office in person. Then maybe make it by ID number, alphabetically or something to prevent too many people arriving at once, with some exceptions due to emergencies.

We seem to be trending well, infections per day staying in the 300-400 cases a day, even with increased testing. I really think they need to keep most things closed down for a bit more to see where the numbers go.

Some businesses where I am can reopen this coming Friday. And then most businesses by May 1. I think I will schedule my hand injection for May 1. I will feel safer that way. Or even the following week. I have a good mask. It has a hepa filter slot and I have 5 filters. My sister made it for me.

Deilla, do you know why some groups of people there in the States, are protecting against social distance and confinement? Are these news that arrived here, true?

Here, tomorrow will be propose prolonging the emergency state for 15 more days. It would include the first 10 days of May. But kids are gonna be able to go out. I’m not sure under what conditions because some government assholes announced a nonsense today but all the other political groups protested.
They were gonna allow the kids to go out with a parent but only to do errands.
Fantastic! The asshole who had the idea sure they don’t have to go to a supermarket to buy. They could also go with a parent to visit someone in a health place. In the end, what I said, they will have to rectify and I hope they are brave enough to rectify. Because what can it be asked for an asshole’s mind?
And I’m not against my government. I’m against assholes, in general. Don’t mind what T-shirt they wear.

Yes, we have a lot of protests going on. People want to get back to work. I guess they are tired of going with out. So many people need food. Millions are going to the food banks where lines are long. I think they are fine with social distancing though. Not really sure. The president seems to think they are being responsible. I don't know. It's as crazy as the virus in my opinion. I decided to quit watching the news. It's all very upsetting.

Currently I’ve been trying to distract myself, deleted all of my social media apps with the exception of messaging apps, focused on my anxiety and addressing it alongside grief, playing games on my phone, taking care of my animals, and working about 30 hours a week at my “essential” job. I’ve unfortunately had a looooot going on right before this virus went wild & it’s not making matters easier. I’m taking it one day at a time...

Next Saturday I will be giving a hour quick walk with my doggie. I’m looking forward because for two months she put up with going out for five minutes and being by her window.
In my city the number of contagions was 1 last day but I’m worried because in some areas as the capital, Madrid, the rate of contagions are really high if you compare with the rest of Spain. However, the same rules to do the unlockdown are being applied. I don’t understand this.

I'm worried about things opening up too soon as well. There's even been mention of returning to the office.

They've at least finally gotten on board with the face masks. Although my city gave less than 24 hour notice from Monday they were required on public transport (which I don't use because I work from home) and then in Tuesday they decide mask were going to be required in stores as well - starting on Wednesday. So I've spent my day off sewing masks until my fingers hurt.

It's been 2,5 months since I spoke to a friend face to face 1,5 month since I spoke to anyone face to face at all apart from cashiers at the supermarket. It's tough

Fights and frustration will happen inside the house it is inevitable. I am trying to stay focused on the positive as things will eventually come back in order. Just think of people who cannot move (wheelchair) or in solitary confinement. This gives me peace of mind knowing how much human beings can endure hardships. If you have a chance to do Yoga, mediation or go for a walk at night. Take this time to learn a new language or find out about yourself maybe inner child work. I know we will all get through this as a human race. Have faith and stay positive as it will be over soon!

Break, a few before the lockdown had place, I was about to have my habitual meeting with my friend. I was so exciting to have this meeting since he has been very busy at Christmas, so we cannot see us. Well, the f ****ing lockdown began and two months later we only could exchange messages on the phone. So, I understand. Also, I’m not alone, ar least the weekends. I can guess how you must be feeling. Thus, with your family in another country.
I think we already lived the worst in this matter so, only a little of more patience and things will come back to be similar than before.

Learning a new language or in general, something new is a good idea to take the best of this confinement.

My teletherapy isn't covered anymore by insurance now that the lockdown is easing up. And my pharmacy isn't doing shipping anymore. I don't like that these conveniences are gone now. I don't like leaving my house. But I know easing up on the lockdown is a good thing. As long as people don't get sick. But why stop the conveniences of shipping and telemedicine?

Good morning AzulOscouro,

I'm in Southern California and working. Many of my coworkers are allowed to work from home, but the essential workers such as myself must show up for work. I have noticed my coworkers are under a tremendous amount of anxiety/stress. Our administration works from home for safety purposes yet when an essential workers asks to leave work 30 minutes early they give them a hard time. We are not notified if an employee goes home sick or an employee has COVID-19. Employee confidentiality. I find the isolation at home difficult. My anxiety has been high during this time, but I'm trying to cope.

I try to take drives out to the Forest area which is beautiful. I love nature and the beautiful flowers and plants flourishing at this time. I only go to work, grocery store and take walks in my complex. I live in a 55+ community and many who live here are abiding by the rules-staying home.

Azul, in your original post you stated Spain is looked down upon in Europe. Why does this happen? We have issues here as well.

Take care,

Maggie

The country is slowly opening, yet people are still protesting. Why aren't people appreciative and more understanding? Maybe it's the media just focusing on the few bad seeds out there. I don't know. It's upsetting to me.

It would be a good idea that they continue offering the shipping service.
It’s suppose we are still at risk and there are many people who need more time to dare to go out for shopping.
I thought things were gonna change in many senses with the pandemic but I see we are going back to do more or less the same.
What are you gonna do to receive your meds?

Wow! I can’t believe it. How are some companies so miserable with the workers. It’s suppose they have to give facilities to workers to avoid they become infected with the virus.
My partner had to voluntary reject to work during the hardest period of the pandemic because the boss didn’t apply safety measures. He can afford it but not many of his co-workers.

Maggie, I’m not sure if I understood your question well. Correct me if I misinterpreted it. You are asking me why my government delayed a lock down, right?
I think we took measures very late. It was March, 8th and still there were demonstrations in the street.
People coming and going from one part to another, within national and international territory.
We saw what happened with Italy. Another of the countries that receive more visits. It was only a matter of putting two and two together and see that here, it was gonna happen the same.
I don’t know if I answer your question.
In my country happens a little similar to the states from the USA. There are pretty autonomy belonging to the different territories, here known as Communities, and most of the cases, it’s not seen with good eyes when there’s a general order from the government.

I think it’s soon to assign responsibilities but expect more from the ones who rule us and who are supposed to count with the best experts.

Stay safe! Beautiful place you are in, btw.

I called the pharmacy. I tried to do it through the app, which didn't work. But when I asked the pharmacist, she said she would ship my meds for me. I'm really glad.

I sometimes feel like I'm the only idiot still staying at home while everyone else is going about their life as normal. I know it's not true but there are a lot of people not caring about anything.

Nothing has changed. There is still no cure, no vaccine, the virus is still contagious. As I keep seeing online a lot: The end of stay-at-home orders doesn't mean the pandemic is over. It means they currently have room for you on the ICU.

Another “idiot” here. I think the same as you. The fact that we can go out to do some sport, or walk, doesn’t mean we have to necessarily do it every day. I’ve never seen so many people walking before.
It’s still very dangerous. It seems people have forgotten how many contagions are still taking place and how many people unluckily passed away.

To be honest, if I had been sleeping better I would be going on daily walks too. But I would go at 7 AM when the streets are empty (which is why I haven't gone today after a terrrible night's sleep, I only dragged myself out of bed just in time for work)
I heard they have time slots for the different age groups/activities over there? So it must be harder to go at a quiet time.

Both my current country and my home country have let hairdressers open again. And my mum immediately booked an appointment for today. Cutting + dyeing, so she'll be in there for hours. I think that is such a stupid idea!!! Especially with both of my parents being high risk I can't believe people are so stupid to risk their health for their HAIR. It's worrying.
