Are obsessive thoughts always so exaggerated? Are the contents of each though exaggerated versions of what goes on in real life? What are the chances that these exaggerated thoughts occur? I am having some extremely exaggerated thoughts that lack logic and have numerous scenarios running at the same time. Not to mention my immune system has not been in the best shape. I also have disturbing dreams, which have happened as of late. Are disturbing dreams common with OCD sufferers?

i don't understand OCD too much, but I'm sure you will get some really good responses momentarily.

Huh, I would have expected lots of responses too. Oh well, allow me to add one.
Obsessive thoughts frequently lack logic. After all, it's not logical to have to look in your mailbox exactly five times before you'll believe you got all the mail out. As for dreams, that could easily be connected to anxiety. Cyran0

I have disturbing dreams related to my obsessions--it makes sense that what goes through my brain during the day is still there at night. I hate the dreams--hard to accept--like, when do I get a break from this *****?
Are you on meds? Some meds can cause explicit dreams. Have you hooked up with a therapist yet?

I was obsessive in my thoughts for years and would run over conversations continualy then I was prescribed meds and it has really helped me, I call it a settled head lol, I still do it but I have control over it now so when I realise I am doing it I talk myself down from it.
I used to dream with it as well, what I found was that if I was particually upset about somthing then the dreams would get worse, if I was in a fairly calm state the dreams would go away and leave me in peace. Have a word with your Dr about it there is help out there. |

I, too have obssessive thoughts...often about conversations I have had, but earlier in my life they were more strange.......I was obssessed with being taller than everyone else, obssessed with astrology, obssessed with certain guys, obssessed with the way people seemed to read my mind......are you thinking a lot about fidelity in relationships?

I find myself having sudden flashes of my car crashing into someone else. Also, I find myself having a conversation with an old girlfriend trying to explain to her why I went off the deep end (being weird, going into a deep depression) I was thinking it was PTSD but the therapist kept telling me "intrusive thoughts" so I looked it up and sure enough, I always wondered why I had an obsession with numbers on buses, and police cars. Anyway, there are a lot of really intelligent people who have OCD. So, while labeling is just labeling it, finding a lot of intelligent people have/had OCD makes me feel a lot better.

But the fact that people cheat with even more than one person is not something that I obsess about. But the fact that my thoughts seem so real is what is so strange. |
