hey everyone. im new here so heres a quick background.
i was diagnosed with anxiety dec 07'. was housebound untill feb 08' which is when i started taking klonopin. i began to take .25 am then again in the pm. im trying to go back to school in the fall (my anxiety has prevented me from going before) so i decided that i would try to up my dosage of klonopin because i knew that i would begin to feel anxious with school coming up and im also having oral surgery in a few weeks. i wasnt consistent when i tried to increase my dose though.. friday 13th- .5 am .25 pm saturday 14th- .5 at noon .25 pm sunday 15th- back down to .25 am and .25 pm monday-wednesday- .5 am .25 pm i began to feel even more anxious and kept having weird sensations that i dont even know how to explain. so thursay i decided to go back to my usual dose of .25 am and pm. im still feeling anxious and extremely dizzy. i dont know whether i should try to increase my dosage again or not? its prescribed at .5 mg 2 x a day. why do you think i was more anxious when i increased my dosage? ive been having panic attacks all day every day since i began messing with my dosage. i dont know if its becuase im thinking about school or if its my meds. any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks! |

Hello km88, nice to meet you. I'm not sure if that is a normal reaction or not, it might be a good idea to call your doctor just in case there is a problem. Better safe than sorry I always say.

I would not change dosage without the knowledge and approval of my doctor.

![]() Welcome to PC, btw. ![]() I have a feeling destabilizing your dosage like you did may have caused the adverse reaction. I've done something similar with xanax in the past. If I were you, I'd keep taking the .25 mg am/pm until I saw the doctor again. Good luck! ![]() J

I wouldn't do anything without talking to your Dr. Of course thinking about going back to school is going to make you more anxious, so that's a contributing factor, but it could also be that your body doesn't tolerate that particular med well. There are other benzo's that you could try or other anti-anxiety meds in a different class that might help you.
Good luck --splitimage |
