Has anyone's anxiety ever been so bad that even after you popped a Xanax or two and waited a few hours you could STILL feel at least some of the anxiety simmering below the surface?. I took two .25mg Xanax and a Buspar a few hours ago and although it definately helped, I still know it's there. Normal or what?.

I was only on Xanax for a short time, precisely because of what you describe. It (sometimes) took the edge off the anxiety, but didn't completely eradicate it. My pdoc switched me to Klonopin, which works wonders. Maybe you need a switch?

Dr gave it to me last week.. it didn't seem to help at all!!! I called her talked to the nurse and she said "You took both and it didn't help?" In a very sarcastic tone. Sorry lady but what might help for one may not be the answer for another. Then the Dr never called me back! Gee.. thanks for the help right? So, I have spent the last few days stressed to the max crying my eyes out!
Call your Dr and tell them what is going on.. but don't let them not call you back..LOL

When I was on only .25 Xanax 6 times a day I always felt stressed out to some extent (especially after 3 hours had gone by). The doc doubled my dose to .5 6 times a day with 1 gram at night. This plus Lexapro has pretty well eliminated it - but not completely.

I found when i was on it, it only mildly helped me. It took the edge off the anxiety so it wasnt so full blown n brought it down to a managable level but it never completely got rid of it.

Medications such as Xanax does help with symptoms of anxiety.
But there is really no medication that will get you anxiety free because there is a reason why the anxiety is there in the first place.

So in reality only you as a person can conquer your fears and become anxiety free.

Like I said meds do help, but they don't get rid of the problem permantly.

I think that Xanax is a relatively mild drug. Klonopin, I think seems stronger to me. But, I'm on a pretty low dose of Xanax (1 mg a day) so that may be why I feel that way.

I know that with me personally I had a rough time on Klonopin, even on the smallest dose I couldn't tolerate it at all. Clonazepam on the other hand did help.

Clonazepam IS Klonopin. Alprazolam is Xanax. Got both of 'em sitting in my bathroom. :-)
