I have been on lexapro and klonopin for 4 weeks and my doctor said he would refill my prescription of klonopin for me if i needed it and when i called to have it refilled he never called me back and did not call in the prescription. When i called the office, he had already left and they could not find my chart. When they finally found my chart after 20 minutes, they told the doctor left a note in my chart saying that i had to come in but he wont be there until next week so in the meantime i have been taking 1mg every night and now i am out of klonopin and have to wait until next week and i know that i am going to miss sleep for like 4 nights in a row and i cant function like that. I dont know what to do. I have never seen a psychiatrist for my anxiety. Are they better at helping people that general doctors? Thanks for any insight.

Sleep deprived-night 1 and counting down.

I think that pdocs are better at anxiety treatment than regular docs, you may want to try seeing one. As for your sleep problems, I don't know about lexapro but some otc sleep aids may be ok to use, I would ask a pharmacist for their opinion, since it is just 4 days I don't think you would have to worry about the habit forming issues but like I said you may want to ask the pharmacist.

I've heard Tylenol PM, Advyl PM and Nyquil work well.

I generally find it better to see a psychologist that works under a psychiatrist and has prescription authorization. The psychologist cost about half as much per hour. GP's can be a problem as they deal more with home medicine. I think specialists cover the territory better. The psychiatrist or psychologist may be beneficial in getting past medications and actually eliminating the anxiety.
