I didn't know where I should put this because it really isn't a question. I read a post about trouble recieving meds and thought I would post this.
Here in this state physicians and other professionals are reluctant to prescribe meds before other coping tools have been tried. The reason is that the college students have figured out how to use ADD/ADHD medication not for the disorder but as an upper like speed and cafeine to stay awake for long study sessions, parties and so on. Basically getting that "quick buzz" as its called here.
My primary doctors office now has an elaborate form that must be filled out by him, a therapist and psychiatrist and in some cases teacher and college professors and the person requesting the medication. The person asking for the meds fills in their form right then. and the physician mails the others thier copies with a copy of the clients form. The others varify if they see those reported symtoms and if they know of any others and so on. Once the physician receives all copys and info he prescribes the meds if needed.
So those having trouble getting meds for ADD/ADHD might want to ask their primary doctor for an evaluation for ADD/ADHD Once the evaluation process is done the professionals in your life have no choice but to believe you and give the meds when needed.
