Hi,
I read in a previous post that if you're ADHD stimulants like adderall will make you calmer, while if you're not they'll make you more active. I understand the basic workings of the Dopaminergic system in the frontal cortex, and how low levels of Dopamine contribute to inattention and hyperactivity, but I'm still confused about how all of this applies to my brain and my response to Adderall.
I gain mental clarity and focus, but I also get all wired feeling. I've heard of the distinction between ADHD and non-ADHD by how the medication effects you (eg. calm/energized) but from all of the cases of ADHD that I've seen, this effect doesn't seem to happen. Perhaps this is because I -- and most of the people I know -- are type 1 ADHD (inattentive)? I know that in inattentive ADHD, the hyperactivity is all mental, so perhaps while that is calm, the body itself will be activated by the stimulant?
