Okay, here is my situation- I was diagnosed with ADHD ten years agao and responded well to treatment with Wellbitrin and Adderall. Unfortunately, five year ago I quit working and had no insurance coverage so I weaned myself off the drugs (with my doctor's help). Now I have a job again and am unable to cope. I am unorganized, flighty, and depressed. I have gone to new doctors because I do not live where I did before. The FP put me on 150mg Wellbutrin but was afraid to diagnose the ADHD. The psychiatrist increased the Wellburtin to 450mg, Prozac 40mg, and Celexa 40mg I think because he is concerned about my depression (I can't say for sure because he does not answer questions). I am still unorganized, late to work, not finishing projects, and anxious because I am afraid I will get fired. I have noticed that now, unlike before, I am unable to cry when I get upset- I just dry heave until I vomit blood. I called the doctor's office and the recpetionist (without consulting even a nurse or PA) told me it takes time for the medicine to work. Should I be concerned and how do I find a doctor that can help me?

I definitely would be concerned. You could ask around for a doctor who will help you. I don't care for doctors who don't answer my questions. Vomitting blood isn't good for your stomach. Tell the doctor you need answers. When you call the doctor's office, ask for a nurse or the doctor. She isn't qualified to answer your questions.

The doctor, also, should ask for your records from your last doctor. My current doctor did this and he said it helps him to treat me.

Celexa and prozac are practically the same thing - you dont need both. I was diagnosed at age 63 (2 years ago) - over the years - I was diagnosed with depression by 5 or 6 therapists - given all kinds of antidepressants - none of them worked. I've lost approx 15 jobs over a 40 year period - Then I was diagnosed by my boss - this was confirmed by a psychiatrist who put me on Vyvanse - It worked extremely well. I then quit my job (because I was sure I was going to be fired again)- and havent taken it in 1 & 1/2 yrs - I'm going to restart it soon - I will be going on Medicare Oct 1. I dont think I was in trouble on my job due to the Vyvanse - but the difficulties getting adjusted caused some manic speech and I was reported by some nursing facilities that I was paying attention to them , etc (I used to go to 4 nursing facilities) and I didnt have a chance to adjust to the increased dosage. I agree with what vanyel said about the Prozac and Celexa being similar. If your doc can't answer why he put you on both of those, I think it is time to look for someone more communicative. I also think the 450 mg Wellbutrin is quite high. You went from 150 to 450? That is a big jump! Wellbutrin is known to increase anxiety in some people and especially with such a big dose, that could be causing some of your anxiety at work. Have you asked your doctor about the Vyvanse. My PNP told me that she has found that when people with ADHD go on Vyvanse, it often helps both their depression and anxiety. Kind of counterintuitive that a stimulant might help with anxiety, but that is what she has seen. (I take Vyvanse and have found it very helpful. I also try to be more organized using behavioral strategies--not easy but it can help some.)

Good luck.
