I'm 16 right now, and I suffer from ADD. Fortunately, I don't have that bad of a case, and 54 mg of Concerta is doing fine for me, for the most part. My problem is doing homework. I work on it fine at school, but when I get home (and the meds have NOT worn off yet) I just have trouble focusing. I play music, and it helps to a degree, but I end up losing focus rather easily and just start gazing at nothing. Either that, or I just can't run the work through my head, as though there's something blocking me from thinking about it. If I get up from it, and try to take a break, I have even more trouble getting started on the work again.

Are there any things I can do to help me stay on track? Specific postures, the room I do my work in, or the amount of background noise?

As a matter of fact, I'm having this problem as I type this, with my math homework lying half finished beside me. I'm a whiz at math, and I don't usually have this problem with it as much as other subjects.

Do you feel the concerta is working properly and addressing your main issues? Would something like Ritalin or Adderall not be better suited?

Oh, yes, it works fine, it's just that when I'm at my house, there are so many other things going on, and so many things that can catch my attention, that I have trouble focusing on my work. And sometimes it feels like the harder I try to concentrate, the harder it is to focus on the work. Kinda like pushing two magnets together.
