Hey guys! My doctor recently switched me to Concerta from Vyvanse, and I noticed on both that when I run for an extended period of time and push myself physically, it becomes very hard to breath. My muscles seize up and I can't control my breathing in that it comes in short gasps. I was wondering if this is something I should be concerned about or if it's one of those side effects that lessens as your body adjusts.

Also- Does anyone know if it's safe to drink alcohol on Concerta?

Thanks!

Alcohol and any stimulant are not good tummy mates, or for that matter, body mates. I don't know about your other problems with your breathing or anything like that. I haven't heard of that being a side effect, and have never experienced that after I have worked out on it. I do not exhibit any of the problems you have told us about when you work out. I am concerned enough about how you are doing after you work out that you should talk to your pdoc and see what may be going on. You might do a Google search on Concerta and find out what the pros and cons are being on this stimulant. Armed with this information, you can better talk to your pdoc and ask her/him if concerta is the best thing for you. Good luck for finding the best combination for you.

I also have ADHD and as well I am taking conserta. I think if you push yourself too much in any kind of sport though it will be hard for you too breath. Just try to take it easy when you exercise. I wouldnt want you to hurt yourself. Do you ever feel really tired on Conserta? No doctor will give me a stright reponce. I hope you dont hurt your self. Just give it your best but remember to not push yourself.

Concerta gave me panic attacks, and I reacted differently to Vyvanse than I did to Concerta. I reacted differently to Concerta and Ritalin, which are both essentially the same drug, so I know that the side effects can be troublesome. I personally haven't had the shortness of breath, but I do have an awfully high heart rate.
