It's been a long time since I came to this forum. I wish I could be more of a regular, but it's just really tough.

Anyway, I've been having trouble recently in my English class. I used to have this same issue, but I thought that I'd gotten past it. I can't do my work. I want to do it, I NEED to do it, but I just can't. I know what it is I need to do. If it's a worksheet, sometimes I know what the questions are asking, sometimes I just can't read the question and comprehend it. When I actually know what I'm being asked, or when I have to write a paper, I can put together the thoughts in my head. I know the answer, and I know what I'm going to write. But when I put my pencil to the paper, my mind just toes blank. It's like there's a wall that's stopping the thoughts when I go to write it down. That's the best way that I can describe it.

Last year, I got straight A's in my English class. Just last semester, I wrote a research paper without any difficulty, and got full marks on it. But I have a D in the class right now, and I'm trying to work on a 100 point project. This paper is literally the difference between passing and failing the class. I don't like to ask for special treatment. I'm medicated, so most of the issues should be taken care of. I should be able to do just as well as the other students. Last year, I was even in the advanced program! But now I'm struggling to pass a subaverage class (the kind of class for those with learning disabilities, or behaviorally challenged kids who are too unruly to be in a normal class... at my school here, they lump them together). Is there anything I could do that might be able to help? Anything would be an improvement... I just spent four hours and only have two sentences to show from it on my worksheet. The essay... I haven't even been able to write down an outline.

Are there any experts I might be able to talk to? We can't afford a therapist or anything, but it'd help me to at least be able to talk to someone that could have answers.

This might be a late response but I've had this happen to me several times and what i do is just write wrtie everything that is in your mind at this time it doesnt have to relate to your essay just get what every is is in your head out . That is the only wya I can set my head clear and listen to my thought then i write my essay as it comes is can look as crappy as posibble butthat is why it is called a draft. to fix all of those mistakes. try it out and see how you like it>

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
