I was just curious if anyone had an opinion of people diagnosed with ADHD/ADD if that puts them in a personality group type B without getting to know them?? Some of the symptoms are unaware of time, losing things, ect (which comes across as Type B) .... Well these are some of my areas I struggles with..... Yet I feel like I am type A.... What do you all think??
Thanks for this!

I would think someone with AD/HD is more likely to be type A (always moving, kind of on edge) ... I'm also a type A with AD/HD interesting question though!

After my husband's first open heart surgery we were invited to join a support group at the hospital. We'd take personality tests, discuss problems, share experiences, etc.

My husband, beyond a shadow of a doubt, is an A+ personality - I am totally the opposite. The nurse conducting the class said she didn't see how our marriage had survived since our personalities are totally different but I have to wonder if that's not the reason we have had a successful marriage for 45 years - we are totally different personalities.

I am so not an A that I'd probably slide completely off the scale.

I've heard of a Type A personality, but not a Type B. What is type B? I am definitely not Type A (the driven, aggressive, competitive personality). I am more laid back. Is that Type B? I don't see that it is related to my ADHD symptoms. I am not sure what you mean by "without getting to know them"? It seems like someone would be aware of your personality long before they became aware that you have ADHD.

I read this post and had to ask myself the question "What does this mean?" Is it about excitabilty?....I have a form of ADHD considered "Predominately Inattentive" which, I guess a type "B" personality would possibly encompass??? BTW, I'm new here and want to say 'Hi!' although I've been a PsychCentral reader for several years. I learned of my ADHD when I was 48 after trying to cram 12 credits into 1 semester. A big mistake on my part! I'm now taking Concerta for this and have seen some benefits. Yesterday, when I signed up.....that was all she wrote for me...I went on to something else.....sorry

Here's a nice little test :-)

You possess many of the characteristics of a Type B personality. Type B persons are characterized as having a "stop and smell the roses" attitude towards life. They are very relaxed and rarely become hostile, aggressive or competitive. Open-minded and forgiving, they are of a flexible nature. Type B persons tend to follow either an "Everybody Must Win" or "Live and Let Live" credo; they have a more passive and submissive slant to their personality. In either case, whether to fight a cause or simply stand up for themselves, Type B persons sometimes lack the drive that could help them achieve their goals. You yourself may want to work on building up some more initiative and dynamism. Otherwise, you run the risk of missing out on important opportunities. Pushing yourself and competing a little bit for your place in the sun can certainly add some spice to your life.

I can defiantly say I cant stop moving. I even rock myself to sleep sometimes, drives my boyfriend crazy sometimes... and sometimes..okay well most of the time I can not listen for the life of me. Should I try medication? Or do I just continue living like this, sometimes the anxiety is so high that I feel like im going to have a panic attack...

Lets not forget there are many flavours of AD(H)D. There is the hyperactive variant, the predominantly inattentive kind and the combined type as well.

In meyer briggs terms -N type personalities are perhaps the closest match for the group as a whole.
