Hi all! Im a high school senior (about to graduate Yay!!) and am just discovering that I probably have ADHD/ADD. My mentor brought up the option a few months ago and it totally surprised me, I never even would have thought about it. Then I began researching the symptoms, ended up here, took a few quizzes and looked through the forums and I totally agree with my mentor. I scored really high on the ADD quiz and I have been talking extensively to my mentor about how to deal with ADD and how to focus more (which my brain HATES Lol). She has ADD to so she really understands how to help deal with it. I have also been seeing a psychologist and will (hopefully) be seeing him for at least a little while to get an official diagnosis an some help with other things as well. I dont believe my parents understand the whole ADD thing, they are the "just sit down and make yourself do it" type and believe everything is a result of the lack of discipline. So I really want to be on here to learn as much as possible since I can't really talk at home about it. I am really excited to learn more and meet new people on here! Everyone seems so understanding of each other, it's a really accepting environment I love it!

So all of that was pretty much just to introduce myself and say hi, I can't wait to hear from some of you.

From your post, it seems like you can navigate around the PC web site pretty good. If you would like to try private messaging after you have done 5 posts, then you should go to your profile page. I see that you are aware of your profile page. That's good click on the quick links icons near the top and click on that quick links menu the private messages icon. It should open up on another web page. On your left is a column, the last icon in that column is "Find Others". That's quick way of finding other PC members who share common interests and can answer questions from the viewpoint of someone who experiences situations similar to you. You could pick a member and private message them if they are willing to help you.

I'm glad you found us at pc. I'm also glad you learned about your ADD pretty early in life. ADD can really wreck your self-esteem over the years. I did not learn that I had ADD until I was 43, about four years ago.

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes! YYZ, I'm glad I found out about it too. My mentor is also my trainer at the barn I ride at and was helping me with my focus and such before she even told me she suspected i had it! Lol she's a sneaky one. Honestly, if it hadnt been for the barn and the horses I don't know where I would be today

I am so glad you are finding out earlier rather then later. I am not as old as YYZADD(he is a dinosaur) But I just found out 2 months or so ago now. I am 28yrs old and it has wreaked havoc for me. But there is a light at the end of my tunnel now. I will try and assist in anyway I can.
