Finding it impossible to fill new prescription

I've just been prescribed Adderall 10mg for my ADHD but I have yet to find a place that can fill it!

I've gone to Walgreens, Cvs, Publix and Walmart pharmacies. None of them have it in stock, and they keep giving me excuses to why they can't order it in.

I'm getting frustrated. I've fought really hard to get my needs recognized and not blown off. But it's sad that it's easier to find my medicine illegally (just trying to find legal info is hard through all the illegal stuff). I'm so frustrated. Should I just go to my PCP instead and ask her for an alternative? I don't know. I am in the process of "firing" my pdoc and finding a new one because she and I butt heads too much etc.

Help?? I'm in central Florida.

Have you tried a hospital pharmacy...most hospitals have an onsite pharmacy that they keep filled with all sorts of unusual meds. Also I would just call around...saves you the trouble of going there. Mail order is another possibility if your insurance covers it.

i ran into the same block with nuvigil but the pharmacy sent a form to the doctor perscribing it and he has to make it medically necessary. Since usually we all have tried all other avenues the paper work is common and can be faxed with an answer within a week; Mine was awesome and they ok'd it very fast due to my medical background and physical findings. I always have the best luck with walgreens but really going out of the area might be easier. wash your stuff at another laundry in a couple towns over; then make some friends there and move along.

P.S. OK so on saturday the 2nd half was dropped at my house promptly between 4 and6pm @5pm. He doesnt take tips...its getting hard to keep up an see the games too. I had my nuvigil the next day after taking it in and they delivered the balance the next night.

Hospital pharmacy is something I have not tried yet. I will have to try that next. I can't jut call in an see if they have it in stock because it is a controlled substance. They won't say whether they have in stock over the phone so I have to check in person. Sigh.

It isn't personal. There are frequent shortages of Adderall and the generic versions.

Sila, I have had the exact experience you describe with trying to fill Adderall. I ended up switching to Vyvanse and my local Walgreens usually has it. Bummer because Adderall was much cheaper. I have not tried a hospital pharmacy. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Maybe try Walmart & Target pharmacies?

I'd keep looking at other pharmacies, call my insurance company and ask for their help (they may know/have an online pharmacy they work with that has it), etc. There are quite legitimate online pharmacies, you don't have to do anything illegal!

Have you tried going through a hospital or privately owned pharmacy?

I experinced the "I cannot tell you over the phone because it is a controlled substance" line before. So I asked to speak with the actual pharmacist. She said we will not say as we do not want to be robbed, etc. I stated. "I need this med to live, do you at least have two, if not, I will go somewhere else to have it filled." She said she had two, but would not reveal the quantity....UUGGHH.
