I'm going on a trip this Sunday with family for Spring Break, and my mom wants to try wearing two halves of a Daytrana patch, which she says will be the same as one full patch. I'm still worried that I'll be sleepy all day, since the patch didn't have the same effect when I tried putting it on the right side of my body (I put it on the left side of my body). Should I be fine?

Welcome to PC.

Glad that you found us. We are a very supportive community and I wish you the very best here. It looks like you are getting around the site just fine. Let a community liaison or moderator know if you need any help.

I have ADHD as well. It is not recommended to cut it in half. I guess there is trial and error involved with the patch. The instructions say to apply to the hip and it doesn't say which side. It last about 9 hours as far as I can tell. I would believe that you would be ok but I wouldn't recommend not going by the instructions. I wish you well and have a great Spring Break.

Now mom wants to try a full Sertraline at night. She thinks it's what's making me sleepy.

I'm worried it'll make me have trouble sleeping.

No, I mean, she wants ME to try a full sertraline at night.

Or are you saying I should talk to a doctor before I make any changes to my meds?

You can try taking your Zoloft at night, it does make some people sleepy. Don't cut your patch. It messes with the time release mechanism. It could cause really dangerous side effects.

Will I go through withdrawal if I don't take Zoloft during the day?

Probably not for one day, as long as you take it that night. It has a long enough half life that you shouldn't experience withdrawal symptoms simply by pushing back a dose by 12 hrs.

What if I do it from now on?

So, I should be fine?

Am I going through withdrawal? This morning I had chills and threw up.

If you do it from now on, you should be okay. I don't know if you're going through withdrawals. Those can sometimes be withdrawal symptoms. Did you take your pill last night or are you waiting until tonight? Did the symptoms go away? If you're still having symptoms, see if they resolve with taking your Zoloft. If so, it probably was withdrawal symptoms.

Today, I'm a bit sleepy without it this morning.

At least I don't have chills or am throwing up.

Are you more sleepy if you take it at night? It can be activating for some people, some people it makes sleepy. Did you take it last night? I'm glad you don't have chills or nausea and vomiting anymore.
