Add medicines?

So I'm diagnosed with ADHD without the H. What are some good meds?

Adderall XR, Concerta, Vyvanse

I was thinking of either Concerta, Vyvanse, or Ritalin (with the hopes I won't have to take them every day), myself. I'm hoping for more of an effect on norepinephrine than anything else due to my symptoms and what I've read about them. Why not Ritalin, may I ask?

*edit* I would like to try Strattera but can't afford it and can't get it covered right now.

Concerta and ritalin are the same formulation (methylphenidate) but concerta is the extended release form I guess and gets you covered for the whole day. Ritalin wears off in 4 hours. Best wishes..

I've been on both Concerta and Ritalin. I found Concerta to be more effective but all medications affect people differently.

I wasn't going to say anything but I was asking because I read technically Ritalin's active ingredient is "methylphenidate hydrochloride (HCL)" and Concerta's is just plain methylphenidate. Very, very broadly speaking I've found the fewer ingredients/features/promises made in a sold product (i.e. food, toiletries, appliances, electronics), the better. (This is just meant as a starting point to help narrow down the decision-making process obviously, and doesn't automatically overrule other considerations.)

OK so I got prescribed Concerta and it's actually got the "HCL" on the end so the info I was reading before must have been wrong, lol. Anyway the important thing is, it worked great for me at the starting dose! I focused for longer than I can ever remember doing on something that I've been angsting over not doing (but too anxious and overwhelmed-feeling to approach) all year! Literally my only side effects were a tiny ear ringing at the beginning that went away quickly and then a headache at the end. I made sure to eat a lot of protein in the morning, had it with food, and tried to drink enough water all day (fail on the last one I suppose). No dry mouth but I hope I can stave off the headache if I eat and drink more throughout the day next time. Seems stimulants dehydrate you, so you have to drink more than usual! Now I've done a day without medication again and I tried to be productive (and to my credit I did reasonably well) but I was back to having limited patience and forgetting everything and having no working memory.
