...empirical research has shown it is not related to intelligence...
...but like ADD (I think?) it can make you look dumb in specific situations sometimes.

I don't have ADD, have no problems with impulsivity or something. I was negatively tested as a child for ADD. My symptoms are almost the opposite to ADD.
Research shows that SCT seems to be a unique disorder, but also have a lot comorbidity with ADD. So I hope to find someone in here who might have both or be diagnosed wrongly...

Some arreas I feel my unability to focus interferes with my performance exceptionally:
-orientation (especially at new places, I can't imagine a "map" of a specific arrea I'm in, and my trouble with orientating goes far beyond anyone else's I know)
-maths
-soccer (I zone out, and only realise the ball was kicked in my direction when people start yelling at me. Until I'm all alert and "there" again, the ball has already passed...
So anyone who can relate? Ways of dealing with it? What's your experience?

Grateful for any advice

If you know a situation will be boring, try grounding exercises.

Okay. Thx for answering this xiare.
I don't think this would work for me though. My problem with boring situations is zoning out... it's not about being distracted by more interesting things around so that I would have to choke myself to "calm down and listen"... it's more like I already have low energy, and if for example a teacher explains something in a really slo-mo manner in class... it feels like "OMG I can't fight my drowsiness anymore I'm gonna fall right of this chair into coma." And this is not about too less sleep or something.
Seems like there's not much interest in this thread in here. I think I'll give it another try in the learning disabilities forum. Hope dies last...
