Does anyone else take generic IR ritalin? I was wondering why it seems to be much more effective sometimes than others. I'm supposed to take it at least 30 minutes before eating, and sometimes that works, but sometimes it seems more effective if I take it about 15 minutes after eating.

It seems to also last longer sometimes, and shorter other times. I take 10mg every 3 to 4 hours. The third dose, the one I take after lunch around 3PM, is the most effective.

I take it. And isn't it supposed to last 9 hours? Is your dosage what was prescribed?

I take the instant release version. It's supposed to last 4 hours, but according to what I read online, hardly anyone gets that long. For me, it takes an hour to start working usually, then usually about 2 hours of effectiveness, gradually decreasing to nothing by the end of the 3rd hour.

Yes, my dosage is as prescribed. 10 mg 3 to 4 times/day depending on my schedule.

Generic. I notice that I feel a big drop after the sixth hour. But it is definitely still having an effect up until then.

To answer your actual question: the emptier my stomach, the more of an impact I feel. But I have to watch out, on that, because it will actually enhance my hyper focus.

I've read studies that say citrus can either increase or decrease the effects. Are you a regular orange juice drinker?

Nope, no OJ. I'm glad it works so long for you. I wish it did for me! You're the first person I've heard of that it lasts so long. It's really odd - I never know how effective it will be or how long it will last. As of now, I take it an hour before I eat anything, then just before a late lunch, then afternoon.

I can't take Ritalin because it made my heart go into arrhythmia
and sent me to the ER.

I recently came off generic IR adderall for some of the same reasons you're citing in your post. Adderall-XR is just easier on my system and more predictable.

Never liked Ritalin. So the ADHD doctor got me onto Concerta.
