So, I'm getting refills of Daytrana on September 6th. The bad news is, that's a day before me and my family go on vacation. My mom will get the meds early. I'm worried that the insurance won't let her, and I'll be without patches through the vacation.

What do I do?

Hello Longhornsfan78: I'm not sure I really understand the problem here. Perhaps how things work for you are different than how they would work for me.

I'm not currently on any med's. But, when I was, my health insurer simply paid their portion of the cost. They didn't have anything to do with who picked up the prescription. To the extent there would have been any concern, it would have been on the part of the pharmacy where I filled my prescription. However, there never was a problem that I can recall. My spouse sometimes picked up my prescriptions for me & there was never any problem.

I guess if you think there may be a problem related to your mom picking up your meds early, I would call the relevant entities (insurer, pharmacy, etc.) explain the situation, & see what kind of arrangements can be worked out. I'm quite certain they will want you to have your med's. They simply need to ensure that they're not falling into the wrong hands. It's nothing personal.

Have a great vacation!

I would just go and try to pick it up. Every pharmacy that I've been to (here in the U.S.) has been ok with me picking up meds early. I believe that there is like a 20-25 day window after you pick up a prescription before you can refill it. But if they let you call in a refill, then it shouldn't be a problem picking it up early, if it's ready. One day shouldn't make any difference. You aren't the first person to go on vacation (or drop a pill on the floor by accident and run out early) Have fun!
