I have some seriously bad insomnia and hyperactive issues, what is a good way without medication, to combat these problems? I need to get some sleep tonight because I have plans tomorrow, but I haven't been feeling like sleeping at all.

Well... I don't know if this is really going to be of any great help to you in your situation. But when I can't sleep, or when I can't get back to sleep after having awoken in the middle of the night, I get up & do walking meditation. I walk around-&-around our dark & quiet home focusing light attention on each foot as it touches the floor. Thoughts come-&- go. I allow them to arise-&-fade at their own pace without getting hooked & carried away by them. I hear the sounds of the city in the distance. I'll typically walk for at least an hour... sometimes longer. I enjoy this so much that when I haven't done it for a while I actually start to miss it. Here are links to 4 articles from PsychCentral's archives on the subject of dealing with insomnia:

Without medication is hard for me. I don’t have AD/HD, but experience insomnia and racing thoughts and anxiety issues near bed. Medication is the only thing that works for me right now. But I can suggest that you have a constant sleeping habits like go to bed and wake up at the same time. Don’t use electronics at night. Read something or do something really boring. Don’t exercise a few hours before bed, don’t eat too close to bed either. These are just suggestions. I use medications at the moment so...

I totally get you I have ADHD up the butt and insomnia is severe as well. I'd say take some melatonin, down some Zzzquil, drink some herbal tea, relax and keep regular visits with your doctor.
