I take Adderall and Namenda but in the last few days have noticed that I am easily distracted again. I'll be watching T.V. and the show will go to commercial and I'll forget what I am watching and have to think really hard to remember what show I'm watching. Also if I'm reading which doesn't happen so much anymore I'm an adult with ADD because I just don't have the patience if I even stop to get a drink I lose my place and then have to try to figure out where I was on the page and I get frustrated. I'll be talking to someone on the phone and find myself daydreaming and lose track of the conversation and when I finally catch myself have to ask the person to repeat themselves which usually makes the person mad.

Any suggestions? I just emailed my pdoc's nurse to see if he can up either one of my meds to help with my symptoms.

I'm on Adderall. My experience with this medication is that it does not seem to totally prevent me from jumping from task to task. For me it seem to help me set settled and into my productivity zone and stay there. At the end of the day I may not have finished one thing, but I've gotten a lot of chunk of many projects done.

I don't know anything about the Namenda medication. Could you be experiencing an interaction between the two. Like I've started taking a betablocker for my BP and I notice that I feel significantly different when I take both medications than when I just take the one.

I'm new here and was wondering what kind of testing did you have to go through? I have an appointment tomorrow and don't know what to expect. Any help would be greatly appreiciated!

Here's an assessment tool my PNP uses, the CAARS (Conners' Adult ADHD Rating Scales). She gave me a hard copy of it to take home and do.
http://www.pearsonassessments.com/tests/caars.htm

She also recommended that I take Dr. Amen's online assessments (two different ones for $5 each).

I took the MMPI and another Personality test. It came out that I had ADD along with other disorders.

How ling did it take your pdoc to get the results of the test? And then when did she/he start you on meds? I'm an adult with ADD I want to get started on helping myself ASAP, I'm also seeing a Councelor once a week.

I was in the hospital when they did the tests so its was quickly that they got the results and was started on the meds just as quickly. I think I need to go up on the dosage but he won't until he talks to me which unless I am able to squeeze in sooner will be in late September. I am on the cancellation list and was told that I may be able to see him in late July early August but am not holding my breath.

She asked me a lot of questions herself that are on those tests. She has never given me a firm diagnosis, but she prescribed meds at the first meeting.

Namenda is only indicated for the treatment of Alzheimers, NOT ADHD... so why are you taking Namenda?

On RXList.com it also states that: </font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>
Signs and symptoms associated with memantine overdosage in clinical trials and from worldwide marketing experience include agitation, confusion, ECG changes, loss of consciousness, psychosis, restlessness, slowed movement, somnolence, stupor, unsteady gait, visual hallucinations, vertigo, vomiting, and weakness. The largest known ingestion of memantine worldwide was 2.0 grams in a patient who took memantine in conjunction with unspecified antidiabetic medications. The patient experienced coma, diplopia, and agitation, but subsequently recovered.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

Namenda could be one reason that you are having current issues. I would get a second opinion if you don't feel comfortable discussing this with your current prescribing doctor.

This is not an issue that should be handled without an appointment face to face with your doctor. Increasing the dosage of one or the other medications might actually be harmful without a close review with your doctor (or a second opinion). I hope it works out for you. I'm an adult with ADD

I take Namenda because of my forgetfulness. I did get my nurse to talk to my pdoc but he isn't going to adjust any of those meds until he can talk to me face to face which unfortuntely isn't until September unless someone cancels between now and then. He is a very busy popular doc. I am on the cancellation list and if an opening comes up before my appointment I'll get in early but I'm not holding my breath.

That's interesting, because the MMPI (MMPI 2) and any other "Personality Test" are not diagnostic of anything, and secondly, I've never heard of an MMPI used for an ADHD assessment. Your PDOC or T must have used it to help him/her in assessing other disorders.

Just an FYI that is important to know: Personality has nothing to do with ADHD.

I know they were testing me for everything under the sun when I was in the hospital. I had to take a bunch of tests and talk with a doc that specializes in diagnosing people.

I don't know about most adults but I am on 20mg. I am going to ask my pdoc in my next appointment though about maybe going off of it though but then again maybe not. I am on it because I was in college and needed it for class to be able to concentrate and stuff and am no longer in school so feel that I no longer need it. I suppose it's good for other things as well so will need to discuss it with him.

Has anyone taken Strattera? My doctor put me on that one first instead of a stimulant. Has anyone had any experience with this med?
