I have had ADD all my life, when I was younger I was RX'd Dexadrine and took that until I graduated HS and never had any problems on that med. I found in my adult life my untreated ADD was affecting me in negative ways at home and at work. I was recently put on Adderral XR 30mg's. I just started Sat. morning and wonder if the drug has to take time to build up working on you. How long until you were able to see some positive change or even knew it was there?
Thanks so much, ![]() Jenn |

I have ADD too. Was diagnosed as an adult but I had symptoms and struggled in school. I have been taking Adderall XR 50mg (as 2-25mgs) daily for quite a while. So it's hard for me to remember when I started it. But I think chaotic is correct that it works quickly. I can tell in one day if I forget to take it.

Hey, just wanted to say that I go a pleasant suprise today at the pharmacy. Adderall XR is now generic! If it's the same stuff..this is good news in this economy.
Just thought I'd emote my pleasure at not having to budget for this monthly expense. :-) |

I was diagnosed with adhd 8 months ago and I am on lexapro and I dont think it eally works for adhd for me because many times I feel confused. The Dr. said she thought I have to much anxiety for the drug you are on Adderral but I think that is what I need. Any suggestions? jessesgirl

I noticed within the first dose that it was helping! Couldn't believe the motivation I had and to be able to focus and read and not be distracted! It's just great!

If you don't find it's working, you might want to try Concerta - i have had noticeably better success with that. |

Why don't you just go back to Dexedrine? They have an extended release capsule for the Dexedrine now that I take and it works great. A couple things I read about taking Adderall after taking Dexedrine for years is that the Adderall might not be as effective at low to moderate doses compared to the Dexedrine, so you'd have to start higher with the Adderall. Adderall has some properties of Ritalin, and thus Ritalin, in theory, might not be as effective as the amphetamine salts (Dexedrine; Vyvanse) would be. Adderall is also more expensive (so my pharmacist and doctor have told me) than Dexedrine XR. That might not be universal. What's your doctor say---if you've seen him?
