Who has used this drug and what was your success/failure with it? Any particular likes or dislikes? Pdoc wants to put me on this... among other things.

My husband has been on it since November and it has been remarkable for his ability to focus and make decisions. He has had zero side effects, which was surprising because he's kind of sensitive to meds.

When my 15 yr old was taking it like he should the results were very good. He said he had very little side effects and he didn't feel the sense of not being himself that he did with the other adhd meds

I have been on Straterra for awhile now. No side effects for me except weird dreams. They haven't been a problem as I rarely remembered my dreams prior to the medication. The only real change I have noticed in myself is that when I have a conversation with people, I am able to focus more on what is being said. Before, I would start a new conversation mid sentence. I do not interrupt people anymore either. People notice when I have forgotten to take my meds. I wish it helped me in more ways, but it hasn't.

My daughter has been on Strattera and I refer to it as our miracle medication. The difference in her is 200%!

Ry,

I had a wonderful reaction to Strattera. Within a week or so, my concentration level was starting to normalize, and I could actually think straight. I think it would be a good idea for it to be added to your medicinal regimant; may help with the day-to-day frustrations as well.

Just a thought....

Hugz and much love,
Jenn

I love my Strattera. I tried Concerta (methylphenidate or Ritalin) but it never seemed to work for me. I'm also a psychiatrist so I use it with some of my patients. Side effects are significant in some, about 50% of my patients can't tolerate the side effects. I have dry mouth, constipation and some sexual side effects but I think it's worth it. I can read a book, remember phone numbers and feel way more motivated. About 6 months back I increased it to 120mg a day from 80mg and boy did it really start working! I used to get angry at little things and stew for an hour, having to use all sorts of cognitive therapy techniques to calm myself down. But after the increase my anger vanished after 10 minutes. It was amazing. 120mg a day is higher than the FDA says is kosher, so many docs may not be willing to go that high. However with most new medications doctors 'in the field' figure out the real doses before someone clues in the government. Myself and some of the other ADHD docs think there may be a mild antidepressant effect too - Strattera was originally developed as an anti-depressant along with Prozac. The company denies an anti-depressant effect though. Since it is not a controlled substance I can call in prescriptions for myself (me see a shrink? - hey, I'm not crazy!). The best website I've found on ADHD is www.additudemag.com by the way. It has very professional and reliable info. Tons of helpful articles.

I start on Strattera tomorrow. Thank god. I want to feel like a normal person. Maybe it will be my miracle medicine. Straterra? Straterra? Straterra? Straterra? Straterra?

Hi Ryan, I am starting on my meds today. My doc told me it wouldn’t take effect for a while. I told her that I have lived with this problem for years; a couple of weeks won't matter. lol Anyway, I will update you on my progress. Wish me luck everyone.

Ryan,

My 12 year old daughter has taken Strattera for a little over a year. I can tell you that it has helped her so much. She went from doing very poorly in school to now making the honor roll. Her organization could still use some work, but who's doesn't.
I will tell you that she did complain of some stomach upset in the begining but we made her take it with food which helped that problem.

Good luck to ya sweety. Please let us know how it go's!!!

Thanks for the info Jen. I'm very happy that she's doing well. That's great. If I can ever remember, I'll make that dang appointment.

I swear I posted here already. Probably forgot to hit continue after previewing my post again.

I recently started on 100 mg. It took quite the effort to get my insurance company to pay for the increased dose. I have had very few side effects with Straterra. The only real benefit I see is that I don't talk as much. I am able to follow a conversation without interupting. I was hoping for better results. I know drugs are not the miracle cure, and I have things going on other ADD. I was just hoping for more. Another increase is not an option. I may have to try something different, and see what works best for me.

I think I have to figure out what is most important. My Doctor has been talking about changing my anti deppressant. I can't change it all at once.

Em, to be honest, I'd be more than happy to be able to follow a convo without butting in. That would be a nice change. With the BP, I'm not sure if straterra will help that though. Thanks for the input.
