as a lot of us have the mind of taking things literally, or getting frustrated by the words of others... i thought this might be a great outlet.?

------------------------------
such as for me right now, it seriouslly gets to me when someone says "im gonna have to ask you to ____" because its like, they arent asking... they are telling.. but they try to add words to it to make it sound friendly. its annoying to me...
that happened last night when i walked to the gas station to get some food, and i had my beanie on, and my coat and hood on, and when i got up to the register and gave them my ebt card, she says "im gonna have to ask you to pull down your hood"... and i was confused and shruged, and did exactly as she said, but what she really meant was for me to pull my hood back. because i pulled it down further on my face and she wouldnt take my payment until i took it off and practically unsuited just to get suited back up to walk back home in the cold. im glad this person usually doesnt work there. it was christmas so some unfamiliar people were working. she also "asked" me to take my headphones off... i was about to go off on her... words werent coming to me, i felt the urgent need to express my thoughts and feelings, but i couldnt get anything out. ugh... "going off" for me, is me leaving abruptly, and if followed, they get told to leave me alone.

i was going to goto walmart(not something i do anyways, but i was going because i was trying to buy some cheap food)... until i walked out of the woodsy area and saw the parking lot. i turned back around and decided to go to my usual gas station.

What? You can't wear a hood and buy stuff? I assume your area does not have any Muslims...
Thanks for this!

hmmm.. youre right.. its mainly chinese people here. rare to see a black person too. when we moved here my 11th and 12th grade year, the entire 8,000 "student body", only had one black guy. when i was still in texas i met a lot of muslims, mexicans, and blacks (originating anywhere from nigeria to the usa to many different locations of africa), in one of my middle schools i was the only white one there.

she did it again to me last night. apparently shes not just seasonal help. i have a hard time responding so i generally comply just for the lack of words to express myself and things... i want to point out - if theres a next time - the sign says "no shirt, no shoes, no service", it doesnt say "no shirt, no shoes, a hoodie, then no service" or something like that.
----

another one of those wordings that bug me, is on my pill bottle (one of them), the bottle and script both read as "take one capsule by mouth everyday" then the pharmacist slaps on a sticker on the side of the bottle that says "may cause dizziness", "no breast feeding while taking this medication" and "take in the morning as directed", now this was the first time ive had that sticker on this med (and ive been on it for 10 years now (with a few breaks), and well... when did the pharmacist decide that by not even talking to me, he could play doctor and add his own directions? i am directed to take one everyday. it does not say take one every morning. its my "wake me up, and enable me to express myself more than i can off of it", but what if i wake up at noon? what if im a nocturnal person? i rarely ever pick up prescriptions before 9pm. so why put that label on there when it seems he is just assuming that i take the med for another reason? (its commonly known for treating adhd, but is also known for other things, and im under the "other things" category. its not even formed in a way that would be a suggestion to me, hes demanding me to take it in the morning even tho its only directed like that by him(the pharmacist).

I have battled to death over this with health staff.

Like being told to bring in morning urine to doc. The idea of morning urine is that it is urine that sat in your bladder for a long while. If it did in the day, it would also be "morning urine". But they go literal on me and DEMANDS it is from morning. And since I'm nocturnal, whether I sleep or am up, I pee a lot more than I do in the day. So the morning urine they demand and get, has been in my bladder two hours tops.

Good luck with that.

Also my friend is a shift worker and she has a morning med. She asked when to take it, mornings her time or real mornings. The only reply she got was to take it in the morning when she gets up. She kept insisting she does not get up in the morning as she just came home from work then, but they just look at her with a blank stare and pronounce clearly, TAAAKE IT IN THE MOOORNING WHEN YOU GET UUUP DO YOU UNDERSTAAAAND?

It's seriously them who are nuts.
Thanks for this!

One of things that bothers me the most is when people speak in fake accents or change their voice. Especially when they are telling me to do something. For example, when I lived in a group home, there was a male staff at the day center who would always tell us to do our chores in a fake Australian accent. For some reason, that makes me angry.

I also agree with you about using "ask" when you are being told. Another thing is when people say "can you" when they either mean "will you" or they're just telling you to. Example is when my room mate asks me, "can you take the dog out?" I want to answer, "Yes, I am capable of taking her out. I do it every night." The proper statement would be, " I need you to take Ginger out." or maybe, "will you take her out?" Can and Will are quite different, just as there is a difference between asking someone to do something (where they have a choice) and telling them

And she should not be telling you to remove your headphones. You have a right to wear them. I know here they make people take off their hoods because of shoplifting but she can't make you take off the headphones. I wear mine because of noise. That's the same thing as telling someone hard of hearing to take out their hearing aids.

You should speak to the manager.
Thanks for this!

I forgot to mention, it bothers me when I'm told to "throw" something, and they don't really mean throw it, IE throw the dishes in the sink.
Thanks for this!
