So something just happened that I didn't expect to happened ever. So from what I knew, I wasn't going to be evaluated because my mom wanted to see what my symptoms looked like in a few months (though ASD is a lifelong thing so) to notice things my pdoc told her and what not. Or it was because my mom didn't believe i would have such a condition. But then, I talked to my mom about it today, and she said that my pdoc told her that I was really insistent on getting tested for ASD even though my pdoc doesn't think I have ASD. That was weird. I remember before the talk my pdoc and my mom had, she kept insisting that I had a mild form of ASD at least half of the time I was there, like she asked half the time "are you sure you don't have autism" and stuff like that, and after that she told me my mom didn't want me tested. But she told my mom something completely different (look above if you forgot). Now, I am really confused what happened and I have to wait for my meeting in mid-October to come up and ask her about the whole ASD opinions and what she believes my situation is. What are your thoughts on the situation based off what I told you? If I missed something, please ask. I'll probably write it down. Thanks About getting diagnosed with ASD .

Hi Nike,

Sorry to not see any responses here. I have no experience w/ASD so I'm not much help. My 2 yr old grandson is being evaluated for Autism and was looking for someone's view on it here.

If you have ASD, you are highly functional in my opinion. I don't get the lying between the Pdoc and your mom. Did you actually insist that you be tested to the Pdoc, or was that her spin? It is unclear in your post.

Anyway, I wanted to at least post a reply, you deserve at least that, however lame mine is.

It's fine. I understand that this particular page can be slow.

Thanks. I know I would be considered highly-functioning, probably Aspergers.

So here's what happened:
About 6 months ago roughly, my pdoc asked me if I thought I had autism. I stated no, because I knew I wasn't like my cousin who has severe autism, or really like my dad's gf's kid who has mild autism with a probable intellectual disability. I can relate to my dad's gf's kid a bit.

Anyways, she didn't bring it up our next meeting, but the one after at she brought it up again. Again, I said no, still thinking the same thing, but we went over the DSM V criteria and we both thought I probably don't. But then I started realizing things like I normally do after being asked if I have something. "Has my social anxiety just been one problem from a bigger problem? Is there something bigger going on?" So I was looking up stuff about it

Another session went by and she didn't mention anything, but the session after that she asked me again. I said that maybe I do, because why would she bring it up so many times and not think that? I have done many ASD quizzes online, and I have scored in autism ranges. The AQ test I scored around 40. So she did this session with my mom privately about my childhood to see if I had autistic tendencies.

She told my mom that it didn't seem like I did at the end of this session. I didn't realize she said that until now. She told me that my mom didn't want me tested for a few months. So I was like "weird, but okay then."

So now I am confused if my pdoc thinks I do have ASD or not.

It wasn't lame. Sorry I wasn't clearer. I hope this timeline helps explain stuff more .
