I see this question a lot on autism quizzes, but I don't understand it.
"I focus on small details rather than the bigger picture." What does it mean? Thank you. |

Bigger picture is seeing a bicycle. Details is seeing a chain, a frame, a wheel, a saddle.

I can't really explain it without using metaphors. But it's like when you build a puzzle, you see things piece by piece instead of the picture of all the pieces today. You see steps instead of the final product. You see like a small section of the circle instead of the entire circle. I don't know how else to explain it sorry.

It is a strange question for a self test. It includes one actually does see the big picture and that one has abstract thinking.

Regarding Nike007's response, I think it was an excellent illustration of the difference between looking at the details vs. seeing the big picture. When I do jigsaw puzzles, I don't look at the final picture to help me. I go piece by piece, filling in the corners and sides first.
When I was learning how to catalog books in a library, my trainer said I was a natural born cataloger. She said something I have never forgotten: You look through a microscope while others look through a telescope. Last edited by englndm; May 06, 2017 at 05:08 PM.
