There are few moments when I don't feel an avie. So, I try to live them with intensity.
I really don't feel an avie when I'm singing a song that touches my heart, when a kid of mine gives me a hug or jokes with me and when people are sensitive enough to treat me as one of them and when I'm in nature just enjoying it.

How about you?
Thanks for this!

When it's just me and my students.

When I travel. No one knows me, and I know I won't see them again.

I can't figure out how you've got the guts to travel alone.
I couldn't travel alone and if I would do it, I wouldn't forget that I'm an avié.
Guess: that moment when you have to ask for a direction, when you have to order in a coffee shop or in a restaurant, that moment when you get your suitcases lost and you have to complain...
Good for you, Red.

I seem to be alright when I'm in a midst of strangers and blending in. Plus, I want to travel SO much that it helped me work through the big challenges.

Also, usually I'm the one giving directions Honestly, every country I've been to except Turkey (where I am a distinct contrast in appearance) I've been asked for directions. So, I manage to always look like a local which I find good. I'm good with directions and haven't really ever had to ask. And, I had already worked on being able to go out to eat on my own. And I shop in the grocery stores too so that I don't have to do that as often.

I've never had to complain. Oh, once, because the hostel I stayed in had bedbugs and I got bit! (And am apparently allergic to them as I had a big reaction!)

I guess the fact that I've always wanted to travel helped me overcome things. But also... I have the hardest time when I feel like I'm the focus of attention. When I'm travelling, I'm not!

You are good at directions. This a good point. I may loose myself in my own house.
I always take maps of the cities, road maps...but in the end I have to ask for directions.
Have you ever come to Spain, Red?
I also love travelling. But, I have a hard time with my avoidance.
I remember when I went to Venezuela with my partner, I tried to savotage the trip and then, fortunately, my partner didn't leave me alone a single moment.
I went to a beach where I was the only white skin person, everyone was looking at me. I felt so bad.

I haven't been to Spain actually - nor a lot of the other places that are really warm!
