I have been in the weirdest mood lately. I have been this way before, but don't know what to call it!

I have LOADS of energy. I pace a lot. Like anxiety, but not quite. I talk a lot. More open than usual, but nobody says I am acting weird. (rest assured, my coworkers would tell me if I was weird).

I have all of my usual depressive symptoms. Irritability, feeling like I could cry, guilt, feeling like a weight is pulling on my heart, desperation, etc.

I am BORED with my whole life. Well, I love my baby. But even my hubby and job seem boring. Just general discontent with everything.

Somebody at work really ticked me off and I just wanted to nail them to the wall with my words until they cried. I didn't do it though! I let it go without any incident.

Maybe I am just being a whiner and I am fine. And I am taking my meds What would you name my mood?

"I am BORED with my whole life. Just general discontent with everything."

You pretty much sumed up how I have felt over the past month or so.
Thanks for this!

I would call your mood "pensive," because you are doing a lot of thinking, possibly too much overtime thinking. Good for you for not blowing up at your co-worker. That must have taken a lot of self discipline.

Are you maybe in a mixed mood? What does your doctor say?
Thanks for this!

That's what crossed my mind too..."mixed episode," "mixed state," etc.

Definitely some of both worlds in there...

I saw her today (psych person). She asked her usual mood questions, then started focusing on my stress at work and sleep pattern. She never mentions her opinion of my mood state unless it is causing real issues (which it isn't really).

I have worked 5 shifts of 12 hours each in the last 6 days. One day I admitted a baby with a severe birth defect that needed immediate transport to a facility that could do surgery. Stress city...I was just plain depressed before this stretch. I bet the exhaustion and stress overlaid some hypomania on top.

I am a bit confused because mixed mood involves full on mania and depression according to the DSM IV. But just because the DSM doesn't list it doesn't mean it can't happen.

I am new to this, but in my opinion, DSM is sadly lacking. Hopefully when it is updated next year, it will include a wider range of bipolar symptoms so that more people can be helped.
