Have you been diagnosed bipolar? Are you concerned that you should see a doctor about your mood swings?

If they're causing you emotional and relational distress, you might want to seek help. There are a variety of treatments available as you may already know.

There are quizzes on the site if you're not sure if you have the symptoms of bipolar or not. From there you could go to a doctor with the printed results and at least have the conversation.

Most of the people on this forum for bipolar are on at very least a mood stabilizer. Meds aren't perfect, but they're better than the terrible lows and out of control highs. Just a thought. And if you've already seen doctor(s) and are on meds, perhaps an adjustment is called for. I'd make an appt or at least call your doc on the phone.

Feel free to visit us and post any time.

Sorry to hear things aren't going so well. There are normal ups and downs inlife but with bipolar they are just a little more extreme. Does take a little to get it all stabilized as much as you can. Your son may not know which way you are going any particular day and may not realize what is going on. You may want to have heart to heart about it with him. He is old enough to understand some of it and probably is ok with more than you think. My son is 8 and he has seen it all. He doesn't completely understand it but he is able to deal with it and there are days he settles in and trys to help with the moods. You don't have to tell him every gory detail but a good talk might make you both feel better
