Does anyone with severe germ phobia have any experience with a crisis stay (for depression/suicide) at a mental ward?

I don't want to die. So, if I lost control I'd want the hospital. I'm getting close but what I need more than anything is a med overhaul for my bipolar and OCD.

But if I was in hospital i couldn't take thier pills.

I also couldn't eat thier food or use the bathroom.

Has anyone gone through something similar?

What if you were allowed to have hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, and the pills from your bottles or ones that your p-doc or your mom got you directly from the pharmacy or even samples all nice and sealed?

If you can't pee in their bathroom, they could always do a catheter while you were unconscious. Don't know about number 2 though.

And what if your mom was allowed to bring you in sealed food?

I think they could accommodate you if your DR explained all of this.

Just an idea.

When I was in the hospital, I noticed that no one touches the pills before they go in your mouth. They come from a sealed pack, the nurses wear gloves as they open the blister packs and they put the pills in a little cup that you dump into your mouth. I also noticed that they keep hand sanitizer in the pharmacy area. If your doctor at the hospital wrote you an order, I am sure they would let you use the sanitizer.

As far as food goes, we were alowed sealed containers from our visitors.

The bathrooms were pretty yucky, though, but there may be a private bathroom available. We had one and I noticed that they were willing to reserve it for patients who needed it. maybe they would do that for you.

I hope this helps.

Yes. But it was'nt me in the hospital. It was my husband there last week. He was in there for 3 days, and I had to force my self to use the bathroom. That and it did'nt help that right beside the sink was the needle bin full of needles and they were'nt just my husband's but the guy next to him. OMG I hated it. That and I ket thinking about all the sick peoples air I was taking into my lungs. And I walked in the room and his neighbor was dressing his leg (well he did'nt have a leg but he was dressing the knee i guess) and his genitals were hangnig outewwwwww

If they let me wear my gloves and pour my own meds from home or from sealed samples, and let my mom bring me sealed food, I'd be ok.
That just leaves the bathroom...NO catheter, NO WAY. But maybe if they let me have one of my own and I could sterilize it each time with lysol spray...But I doubt they'd be that accomadating. But I don't know.
Does anybody know?

That would be a godsend.

Yeah, I'd ask your p-doc what he can arrange with the hospital if you really need to go. I hate hospitals like everyone else here. But what're ya gonna do when you need immediate meds help and supervision 24-7?

Off to dinner.

Take care all.

Rooting for you berries...that sounded funny ahaha...like i'm a wild animal trying to find fruit. :P

Thank you for asking BNLsMOM.
Been in bed dozing all day. I got up at 5am, took 600mg of Seroquil around 8am and got up at 2pm. Took 900mg of Seroquil at 3pm and am hoping it'll kick in around 6 or 7pm.

But I haven't felt suicidal today. So, no hospital for me today.

I see my pdoc tomorrow. Probably gonna get started on a major med overhaul. Hope so, anyway.
