I just had a med fiasco and the doc ended up putting me on a dose of 375 mg of Effexor and taking me off of antipsycotics. I feel great, I mean great. Like I just snorted a big fat line. I'm getting everything done. Not sleeping very much. I'm sort of worried. I just applied for a credit card so I can earn bonus points. I just bought a book on investing and signed up for a scottrade account. I'm not going to do anything financial until I talk to my parents. I also think I hear someone call my name. I never had bipolar.

Well, 375 mg sounds like a substantial dose of Effexor.
![]() Yes, your description has possible signs of hypomania or mania. Talk to your doctor about it ASAP--as well as the voice you're hearing. I'm not a doc, but it sounds like you might need your dose changed (and perhaps something added). And about not doing anything financial without talking to your parents: very good idea! ![]() Keep us updated! |

Yes...sounds like hypomania if you're not doing anything dangerous. I had a bad reaction to effexor, shaking body, hyper, irritable. Came off of it and feel better. In fact, lamictal is what replaced it. I'm hypomanic too. Have been for six weeks, with the exception of a few days when I went on a spending spree and wasn't driving safely due to my vision being so blurry (caused by Abilify, which also was a bad drug for me).
So, I relate. I'm doing tons of projects and getting things done, my mind feels sharp, etc. Wish you all the best and watch out for the crash (not that I think you'll have one. I haven't after 6 weeks). ![]()

My meds work obviously b/c I haven't had a manic incident since 2003! It was a life destroying doozy. I've always been on the depressive end and no meds work for it although I've JUST started Pristiq.
