Mania, depression, fear and no clue I was this bad. Thought it was drinking prob...So I quit (slipped once uring summer) Had odd thoughts assumed everyone did. Lost faith, trust an common sense. Apologized and am just aggravating her with my excessive explanations and thoughts. Had an episode that went on for days...lost it. Living for years in fear of talking about things and blurting out odd things....hiding, scared.

Thoughts get strange but rarely act.

Never cheated,,,never hit,,,,did think suicide...almost acted.

Undiagnosed.

Episodic, sorry if you've explained this elsewhere, but have you gone for help to an MD, a psychologist or a psychiatrist? If not, I would recommend starting there. If you're not sure of what you're dealing with or how to treat it, that is an essential first step.

I resisted getting help until just last year. Why so long (I was nearly 29)? Because I thought that it meant I was weak or bad or something. But in the end, illnesses of all kinds only get worse if untreated. The longer we wait to get on meds and into therapy, the higher the highs and lower the lows will get. And there is a potential for doing something irreversible. So please don't delay if you haven't called and made an appointment yet...or at least start the search for a provider.

We're here for you if things get tough or you're confused.
But online support is no substitute for a professional.

That you're even on here asking questions and reaching out is a good sign, so take heart. You're not as messed up as the people who don't think there's anything wrong with them or deny that they need any help. But even those people can reach a crisis point and get better. There is always the hope for a better life as soon as we become conscious of a problem.

I really hate that you lost your love. I have read that it happens all the time with people and bipolar. While we cant handle it, its hard on our family also. I thank God that my love is understanding and there for me. You feel like **** right now, I know the feeling. Just hang in there!

Gosh, I wish I could tell you, but I'm not a good person to ask. when it happened with me there wasn't any repairing; he just figured out he couldn't handle what I was going through. No drama, no bugging out when I was really down, just, "this isn't working, we need to go different ways."Killed me. Life went on, I mean, I have a good family now and all, but yeah, this disease takes a lot in payment. It still hurts to think of him and others who couldn't take the problems or who got hurt by me when I cycled.
<that's just about all I can say. I'm really, really sorry that you're going through this. Take courage

I am moving forward. 45 years old and starting fresh. I have family around here and they will help me through. Thinking about it now, maybe if she does not love me enough to work through this I am better off. However it was my fault I let things go to long.

Was this your GP that gave you Zoloft? If so, you should know that IF you are bipolar, an SSRI (which is what Zoloft is) can trigger Mania. So, you might want to talk to your doctor about that.

The best person to prescribe psych meds is a psychiatrist. Good for you for getting started on that process.

Berries made a really point here, and I think you should follow her advice. Make sure that your p-doc knows what's going on with the sleep and the anxiety. Hope ther is something you can do about it.
