I just want to sleep. Not having nightmares anymore, so sleep is my new best friend.

But I have to take 600mg of seroquil to take a nap for 2 hours.

And yesterday I took 600mg and didn't sleep a wink. And I had to take 600mg more to get to sleep last night.
I'm upping the ante today and taking 750mg in a few hours so I can take a Sunday nap and escape all the ******** in my head.

What kind of freak am I that I need so much more seroquil than everyone else?????? (my prescribed dose is 1050mg a day)

I know it's frustrating, but remember everyone is different. It all depends on how quickly your body metabolizes your meds. Also if you have been on it for a while your body acclimates to it and you eed more. Don't compare it to what others are taking, just do what works for you.

You are no more of a freak than any one of us...

I heard from a former P-nurse that the more Seroquel you take, the less the sleepy effects. Like Benadryl. Instead of making you tired and go to sleep, it can make you somewhat awake and feeling spacey. Just a thought.

Dear Berries,

Wow! What a time you are having. The seroquel had lessened effects on me over time and I had to take more. Everyone's system is different, you are not a freak by any means!!!!! Hang in there and get some rest.

I guess I should be more clear. I am not taking it as a sleep aide. It's nice that it has that effect though, for without I wouldn't be able to sleep, but it seems everyone else only takes 25 mg and it knocks them out.

What I am really taking it for is it's anti-psychotic and anti-manic effects.

That makes me feel like a freak too and also that I have to take so much for it to work but it does work. I guess I should just be grateful and shut up about it.

Hi Berries

I have been on the medication that you are taking and it did knock me on my arse even at a small dosage.

Have you heard about Zeldox? It's traditionally used for schizophrenia but can be used for mixed mania. I take 160mg at night. I haven't had a manic episode in 3 years!

The more seroquel you take, the less it works as a sleep agent.

((((((((((((((((Berries)))))))))))))))) Needing a certain amount of a medication doesn't make you a freak. All of our bodies are different. I wish that I didn't need so many different kinds of medicine, and I'm the neighborhood "freak" who avoids everyone and waits til dark to get the mail or take out the rubbish. I hope you know how many friends love you here at PC. I know what it's like to go for days on end without sleep, and it can sure mess you up. Be sure to talk to your T or pdoc about this. Hugs to You ~ billieJ

I agree. You're not a freak, even when you or I feel like one. You're a very kind and intelligent person. You will have a better life after the meds switch. Hang in there on switching over from Seroquel to Clorazil. You can make it!
