My name is Dogwood. I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 years ago, but think now I have probably always been bipolar. I have a husband and 3 adult children. I have been involved in a DBSA support group for the last 2 years. I still struggle a lot with mind racing, depression, and a lot of other mental health issues. I have been to some bad spaces and thank God for the progress I have made. Right now is a tough time for me. I entered this site to get support from others and hopefully help others. I am a Christian and my faith is central in my life.
Well that is me in a nutshell. I have a lot to say and talk about but that is enough for an intro. I hope to hear from some of you in the future and look forward to being part of this community.

I am also bipolar and was diagnosed in 2 yrs ago. I constantly struggle w/ a lot of symptoms of Bipolar. I have a hard time staying on the meds prescribed due to the side effects. I look forward to talking to everyone and basically getting someone to understand(relate) to what I am going thru. Thanks and God Bless.

Bless you Shygirl!I can certainly relate to the shyness. I've been shy all my life due to a disability but the Lord is helping me to reach out. It's a good thing to meet others whose struggles are similar.Right now my bipolar struggles are an issue so I've taken some prn meds that seem to be giving me a boost. Most of the struggles are with depression but I can really get wacky when I occassinally get manic. Praise the Lord, He always brings me through all my struggles. Stay well and be blessed!

Hi Dogwood! I too am a Christian, and my faith helps me greatly in my struggle with Bipolar.

I have one little girl (11 months) who is doing well.

Hope to see you around here!

Hiya Dogwood! What a lovely profile name! I'm Lonegael, two boys 15 and 8, youngest with autism. I've been diagnosed for ten years now, have had mood problems all my life. Rather stable right now. I'm also a believer and I live with my family in Sweden. Greetings sister! Welcome!

Hi Dogwood! I'm new here as well as I've just been diagnosed, and I too feel that I've been this way all along (or at least since I was a teenager).

I'm new as well. I too think I've been bipolar all my life. I hit bottom about five years ago after a big relocation and disasterous work experience. Started then to receive treatment for depression and sleep problems. I do pretty well overall, but have real problems after plane travel, which I have to do a lot for work: irritability, easily distressed, feelings of being overwhelmed. It passes, but I never seem to remember that it will at the time. I'm here because I blew up at a friend yesterday and decided to see if I could create some better behaviors. I may have blown it with her, but hopefully something good can come out of this.
Thanks for this!

I'm not sure where my first reply went. I'm new to chat rooms, so may have done this wrong. I'm in my 50s and believe I've been bipolar all my life, though I'm only now recognizing it. I've been treated for depression and sleep problems for five years, brought on by a disasterous major move and job failure. I travel a lot for work and am at my worst when jetlagged: easily overwhelmed, reactive, depressed. It always passes, but doesn't feel like it will when I'm in the middle of it. I blew up at a friend in such a state yesterday. Not the first time, and I don't know that I'll be forgiven this time, but I decided to start reaching out for help on how to improve my behavior.

Hello Lonegael,

It was great to hear from you. I'm looking forward to having more time for you and everyone else now that I"ve just completed a 7 week class to become certified as a Peer Suport Specialist. It was a great experience that I'd recommend to anyone. However, I haven't been in college since'81 so getting back into the books for grades was quite a challenge but I loved it. I also have sons.My 26yr old and my 21yr old both still live with me and my 19yr old lives nearby. They've been so supportive of me when I've been sick and acted horribly. They're very forgiving and loving sons and my husband is the same. I'm blessed. till next time stay well and God bless you.
