I've been bipolar for almost 15 years. I've been in the hospital three times, last time was two years ago. I've been level for the most part since then, a year ago I was able to ease off the meds (my choice, I'm not a fan of them). Untill about 8 weeks ago I had been doing really well. No major highs or lows that would cause alrarm.

My boyfriend deployed and I fell into a rapid cycle. I've been up and down so much I lost most of the last 8 weeks. Wasn't until my T mention something on my diary and my very close friends asking if I'm on my "rollarcoaster" as they call it, that I went back and noticed my pattern.

I'm in a new town, and my friends here are also military wife type people, like myslef, and a family member who is just as depresssed as I am. So my social circle here is unhappy and in the same boat as I am lifewise. I don't feel like I have a safe place to talk out here. It's made me feel lost and helpless.

I know I'm not alone, no matter how bad I may feel it. There are military wife support groups, but I don't think they'd understand why I feel as low as I do, and afraid to scare them with my highs. I hope this site will help and I can start to find a balance and my mid grownd again. Just need to remind myself I'm not alone in my battle and I have 'friends in arms', so to speak.

Hi! Welcome! I can see why it would be hard to talk about these other problems around your IRL friends, they must be under incredible stress as it is, AS ARE YOU.
Feel free to post away! Huggs!

Female Vet chiming in here. This support group would be a great help for you. I bet you would be very surprised who is dealing with depression and bipolar in those support groups for military wives. Maybe go check out more than one...you might like one more than the other...still not finding what you are looking for? Why not start your own group? Military bases have lots of conference rooms and other places to meet. Make a flyer and website and post 'em everywhere; the bulletin board at the Px, churches, med facilities and every where else you can think of. Tell your doc...he may have suggestions too. Also Google your local NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Il)...maybe they have a good group already established. DBSA (Depression Bipolar Support Association (I think that is what it is called). Hope you have some luck with these suggestions. Wish I was there to help you. This seems like a fun project. You could have guest speakers and all kinds of junk. This place is a life saver too...open 24/7!
Thanks for this!

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. As you can see the people here are wonderfully supportive. I hope this site helps you.
