Please hold thumbs - my 3rd pdoc in 17 months.
Really hoping this one will work out. Kind of anxious to go... Stopped my meds last week, and kind of in a limbo type of mood. How on earth do I stress the seriousness of my depression when it comes? How do i explain my mood swings when I'm not in the throws of one? And then the issue of memory loss; I won't be able to recount everything that has happened in the last few months - I tend to hit a blank wall. But hoping this pdoc will care, my T will also talk to her from time to time, which is important to me.

![]() ![]() ![]() Sending you many hugs, and crossing my fingers and toes! I hope your appointment with this new pdoc goes well. You mention your worries of being able to explain your depression...just try your best to look into your most recent depressive episode, and try to remember how you felt, what you were thinking, what actions you took, etc. Maybe you could even print out some of your previous posts from here. I hope you'll post how the appointment went. |

I'm not much help right now, but you're my friend, and you've been sO good to me. So I guess I don't have much to say except good luck, and I agree with Melissa's idea of taking your posts with you...

Thanks Mel. Sure I will let you guys know how it goes. Less than 24 hours to go from here.
I mainly am concerned that I cannot bring across the seriousness of my depressive episodes unless I'm in them. Then when I get into them, I freak out, and no-one can seem to understand why, or how serious it actually is. Well, with a bit of luck, this one will have some more empathy. I funnily enough printed some of my posts for my T on Friday, as I felt I was always at a loss of words when I got to T; also that I couldnt bring enough emotions into what I was feeling, or I'd gone numb from the feelings a few days prior. I think it was a great break-through, while it definitely wasn't easy to let someone read the posts with me sitting right opposite them. Not that she would judge, but it just left me vulnerable.

That's great news Sugahorse. Perhaps writing down the points you want to speak to him or her about. You may want to have your previous p-doc transfer over your medical file?

I have been to 2 pdocs previously, and never had a file transferred.
My "old" pdoc doesn't even know I've left her... hehe

Well, I guess the fact that I had stopped my meds last week made it that much easier, and we could get started straight on meds.
Lamictin Starting at 12.5mg, going up every week by 12.5mg to 100mg. Then I see her again. If the depression is still there, we will look to add Wellbutrin. But for now only 1 med at a time to ensure it is working. I like this approach. The pdoc seems friendly and professional, not eccentric, open to explain everything to me, listens and is available - a phone call away.

Thanks Mel and Chris. I warned this one that I was a tough customer and probably would be asking too much of her
![]() Now just hope the meds work as well as others have experienced
