Just increased my seroquel by fifty... hopefully just a temporary measure, and it won't have to go up anymore.

Here is my cocktail
All taken at PM
900 MG Litihum
100 MG Lamotrigine (Generic for Lamictal)
120 MG Propranolol ER (For tremors associated to Lithium)
30 MG Temazepam (For Sleep)

I had a bad anxiety attack about a year and a half ago and my p-doc increased my lithium to 1200 MG and added Abilify. I don't remember the dosage. The Abilify stopped the anxiety attack and he kept me from going to the hospital. I was freaking out and he quelled the attack ans doing fine but then I was having bad side effects couldn't talk to people and was having memory problems. I was communicating that something wasn't right to my therapist and p-doc that I only see every 3 months, but we didn't make any changes. I told a guy I was dating about my diagnosis and what I was taking and he suggested that the Abilify was causing the side effects. I readdressed with therapist and p-doc and they took me off the Abilify and I am a functioning capable person again. I do have an emergency pack of Abilify that my doc says to keep on hand and take in case of emergency.

I take blood tests once a quarter with the Lithium so that helps to see if my meds are doing okay.

I have been on a bunch of other drugs. I can't remember all of them but Zyprexa was the first drug I was put on when I was diagnosed with BP and it turned me into a zombie. I was taking Geodon at one point and seeing my p-doc and therapist regularly but still had a very bad manic episode. My p-doc retired and I got with this new p-doc and he put me on Lithium and Lamictal and it seems to have worked for me thus far. I haven't had a bad manic episode for almost 4 years and I've come out of my depression which I'm not sure was truly due to BP issues versus all the fallout of my bad manic episode. Husband left me, kicked me out of the house, took custody of my child, etc.

Geodon - 40mgs 3x/day
Abilify - 10mgs AM
Wellbutrin XL - 450mgs AM
Daytrana - 30mgs AM (patch for ADHD)
Ambien - 5mgs PRN
Klonopin - .5-1mg PRN

I have had this cocktail for 7 years. The doses are sometimes adjusted depending on how I'm doing. The Abilify was first started a couple years ago and is added when the depression can't be kicked, so I only take that for a couple months at a time when needed. This has kept me relatively stable (though of course I do go through occasional difficult periods, however they are much less severe).

I forgot to say I also take Topomax 100 mg. a day for headaches. Now I'm taking herbs for pain since I can't get any good pain relievers because i'm bipolar. I have pain a lot of pain that keeps me from working. I'm retiring at the end of April. I will have to take a cut, but we will be ok. I don't feel old (I will be 58 in Aug.) and I look at it as a new chapter in my life. At least I finally have a man who really loves me. It took me almost 56 years.

I was at 1800mg of Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine) and 20mg of Paxil, but I started gaining all this weight so I asked to be off Paxil. That doc screwed up and was also trying to take me off the Trileptal and I started going crazy, so we're bringing that back up. Currently at 1200mg Trileptal and 25mg Pristiq. 50mg Visteril for sleep and PRN

lamictal 100MG tablets take 1 twice a day
clonazepam 0.5MG tab take 1/2 tab twice a day
lithium carb 300MG take one once in the evening
mirtazapine (brand name remeron) 15MG tab take 1 once in the evening

Note: The mirtazapine I have only been on a week and I am not very well adjusted yet. I was on wellbutrin prior to it and it sent me into a bit of mania that I could not deal with nor could my husband. I had been on celexa and all I can say about that is the word anhedonia sums it up. Pdoc thought the wellbutrin would perk me up but that was too much.

I've been on other things...but this is my current and most recent. Mainly the depression needs to be improved upon. I would have to be knocked out to not have anxiety, but I am managing so not going to do more with it.

Lamictal - 250 mg
Effexor - 150 mg
Paxil - 20 mg
Trazadone prn (very infrequent)
Clonaxepam prn (very infrequent)

I am guesstimating but the average number of meds looks to be 5 or 6, with a few real outliers.

Anyone here from Canada? Just wondering how our number of meds stack up to the UK and USA?

If it works, it works. I hate it but I can't live without it (not very easily anyway)
