Sept. 5 - 11 is National Suicide Prevention Week. Suicide is the third most common cause of death for 18 - 24 year olds. On, WEDNESDAY, September 8th, write (or paint, color, draw) the word "LOVE" on your wrist as a form of recognition.

Create a beautiful canvas out of that which might seem another's last resort.

Know that your compassion will spread.

SPREAD THE LOVE!

No I'm not being sarcastic at all. It's hard to read tone at times in posts, so thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't have known if you hadn't posted (since I don't keep track of stuff that well). This is a very personal issue for me too. I might even get up the nerve to actually do the wrist thing on the 8th.

Fit: I love it that you are taking such positive steps! I wouldn't have known about it either; I tend to avoid most websites so that I don't read depressing news...so glad you shared it.. I think I will use a permanent marker so that people will be asking me about it for days!

Well I'm glad I could bring awareness to all of you...its an important topic to me. Though, I don't personally know of anyone that has committed suicide in my life. I have known people who know people that have, and I can see it's something that no one should have to put up with...Everyone deserves to be heard. Even if they think they are yelling into nothing. We are their voices and we need to stand up and show support that there are people out there that care. It may not seem like it, but there are. I've learned that from all you loving people out there. So if you guys could help me, then I want to do all I can to help the next person out to return the gratitude for showing me that people care. Even if its through a computer screen!!

Let everyone you know about this!! STAND UP SHOW SUPPORT!!

Great idea, but don't know if I've got the guts to stand up and stand out like that. I don't know if I want to answer questions if they get personal. It's something I only share with really close friends that I trust alot...

I am posting this message in memory of my dear friend Lonnie, I don't know which was harder, identifying his corpse at the morgue or telling his mom. He will always be with me and I will always love him but at the same time, if I could dig him up and slap him silly for all the horrendous pain he has put his mother and I through. If only my last memory of him wasnt on a steel table... cold, pale, blue... if only he had asked for help... and if that didnt work... ask again... and again... and again. If you cant love yourself enough to keep going, pick one random person in your life and decide that day that you will suffer through just for them. Let us love you long enough til you can love yourself.
Thanks for this!

I actually considered the tattoo, I already have two. But then I realized it was an unnecessary expense and I'm still unemployed..I'm really proud of myself for not spending the money!
