So, I saw the new pdoc today along with a student. I was as honest as I could be with her but it was a case of "have read your notes (BPD dx)" and that was all she was willing to consider. My cpn was told she wasn't allowed to come and I wish she had cos i wasn't listened to at all. Sleeping pills cos i said i wans't sleeping cos she wants to see if they affect my mood. I've doen it before, they dont. Sleeping pills i'm not usually allowed cos i tend to take them all.

but what's the point in taking the meds if they don't have an effect? I still cycle wildly and yes they might take the edge off but not a whole lot. so why bother?>

She's told me to reduce my mirtazapine while i'm manic - her words not mine - but why don't i just stop taking them alotgether?

Mirtazapine, I think the name of that drug came up last week... I am going to have to look it up again. For some reason though, I think it isn't in use in the US. Where are you located? Australia, I think?
I can hear your frustration at being just passed over by a new pdoc. I am not familiar with your medical system. Are you able to select your practioner? It would be nice if you could see someone who saw you as a patient rather than a file.
In regards to her instructions to reduce that one med while you are manic, how well are you able to identify when you have entered a manic state? Hypomania, I am very aware of but when I slip into mania, it usually takes someone hitting me over the head with a big stick before I realize it. DUH! I wouldn't be able to self-regulate the dose? Does the drug have any benefits for you?

That concerns me. Did you let the p-doc know your history with sleeping pills? Perhaps you should contact them and indicate that you need an emergency appointment.

If you feel unsafe please go to the Hospital.

if she'd bothered to read my notes (that she had with her) she'd know.

I'm torn between calling my cpn and doing nothing.

Lotus,
You were in my prayers last night and this morning. Regarding the sleeping pills, please put in a safety measure for yourself. Please give the prescription to a nearby friend or understanding neighbor who will give them to you one or two at a time. If the temptation is there, remove the temptation. Are you suicidal or just wanting to overmedicate? Regardless, please make your environment as safe as possible and remove the source of temptation.
Big Hugs.......
