Hi everyone,
Some of you know that I missed my shock treatment yesterday. Since yesterday, I've been feeling quite depressed/bored/unmotivated, etc. I'm sure it has to do with not getting my treatment, because they always make me feel better. So I must wait until next week for a shock treatment, and I'll probably just feel lower, and lower, and lower...etc. How do I get through this? ![]() |

((((((((melissa)))))))))) I'm really sorry you missed your ECT treatment yesterday and that you're feeling depressed. Are you getting any other treatment right now, like regular therapy? Can you call your therapist and say you're worried about spiraling downwards until the next shock treatment? Or is there someone - a counselor? - at the hospital where you get the ECT who you could talk to?
I really hope the week goes by quickly. Sending hugs ![]() |

dear Melissa,
Sending a hug through cyberspace. ![]() Do you see a T in addition to a pdoc or MD. Can you call that person? I know how you feel. Ohhh I feel pooey tonight. So... I have plenty of empathy if not a good answer for 'ya. Just plenty of hugs and some encouragement... Elana

Sorry to hear that you are feeling depressed. Is there something that you would normally enjoy doing? That usually can lift my spirits......even if it's just a little.

Hang in there, Melissa...it's an awful feeling, but you've come out of it before, and you'll get through this one, too.

I've been through ECT, so I know what you are going through. As unmotivated as you may feel, force yourself to get out and take a walk if the weather permits, maybe in a mall if the weather is uncooperative. Do that every day while you wait for your next treatment. How many treatments have you had by the way? In time, the effect should be more lasting. (Something to look forward to.) Keep yourself busy and distracted, as hard as that may sound. That will get you through until your next treatment.

I have had ECT for 18 months. At first three times a week, then once a week, then every other week, every three weeks and finally once every four weeks. On Wednesday I had my last scheduled ECT. Now I'll see how it goes. I have been relatively stable for quite some time.
I see my pdoc in about 5 weeks. I am going to ask to see her a month later just in case. |
