Trigger icon for possibly triggering stuff (and don't try it at home stuff) involved.
Somebody once said I am a ghost magnet... I used to mess with it in my younger days, calling on ghosts (I respected rule "do not call ghosts of your family members and people you knew" and never dared Satan... but that's about it. I called on Hitler and Muhammad Atta... always with somebody else. And it was usually a weird and scary experience). But I seem to attract random spirits. I don't think it's halucination, because others confirmed it to me. My roommate said I brought a "poltergeist". It was more likely my guardian angel, but whatever, she felt it. (There's also what I call "cosmic owls".... now there is four and they appear from time to time. I like them a lot). There was ghost in the house where I live (but I spend most time elsewhere now). My mother was not quite convinced until she brought a friend from her yoga class over. The friend was like: "Wow, do you know you have a ghost here?". So we lead him out... It was several years ago... but now there's something... it's not human... it feel more like a blackhole, or discontiuation of the time-space... it's weird to explain... but let's say I try to avoid to be alone in the house. and yeah, my current dorm used to be a mental hospital... prior to WWII so it has not very positive energy. We all joke about that there's really "no difference between nuthouse and student dorm, just look at the people, nobody could tell a difference...". I have crystals and mandalas and I do burn candles here... That's all I can do, we are not allowed to move the furniture around... and feng shuei is not an excuse. Which brings me to... does anybody else experience vibes - good or bad - of places? Some places just make me feel quite horrible... others have positive vibes. I visited Russia twice... and that country triggered me quite a lot... not sure how much can be contributed to the fact we were all drinking waaaaaay too much there... but I usually bear travelling quite well. Unless I walk on former battlefields... and last but not least... anybody had out-of-body experience or did astral travel? i had several out of body experiences, both willingly or just at random (I can bring myself back quick though... but it happens). Please, do not think Venus is insane. ![]()

I don't think Venus is insane!!! There are some people who experience these paranormal occurrences. Thinking about where I come from, I do believe in spirits, but I believe them to be in the form of either an angel or a demon. I don't want to advocate religion here, this is just to make my point clear. I am a Cristian and in my younger days I dabbled a bit and meddled in stuff that was best left alone. I did see some weird things that I can't explain in the human dimension, but I attributed these things to demons. As I got older I started to depend on science to explain those things, and that worked as well. If you deep dig in enough you can always find something... hallucinations, medication, tumors, perceptions etc. Lately I figure it's just another dimension that collides with our's from time to time...I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter if it's science, paranormal activity or the spiritual realm that causes these things, but in the end it comes down to the person's experience of that event. I feel like I'm not making a whole lotta sense right now... It is difficult to debate these things because it is a rather black and white thing, either you believe it, or you don't and that can spark some hefty arguments. Point is just that there are people who experience these things all over, for whatever reason.
Don't know if this helps at all.... If these experiences are extremely negative to you, then maybe you should look into it....

I've experienced the presence of angels, demons and ghosts since age 4. So Venus is definitly n0t insane. Ghosts I usually chase off or ign0re depending on the vibe. Demons attack when things are difficult, they're sorta like my own personal vultures (if that makes any sense) I pray those away. All in all I'm Christian, and think that may have something to do with it! So just wanted to share with you!

Definitely triggering so be warrned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JustAPixie, maybe it's not so black and white (although I respect your opinion). I am a natural cynic although I love supernatural, horror, fantasy or Sci Fi. TRIGGERING - I had an horrofic upbrining due to an alcoholic Father and then after he died from his alcoholism an alcoholic Stepfather and Mum went crazy because of all her years with them so she really contributed a great deal to my mental illness and I had a lot of bitterness. But she got to Alanon and I got to AA and further on we got our act together as mum and daughter for the first time ever - still with spats - but just like all mums and daughters. She died 3 years ago and I had the privledge of laying on a stretcher bed along side her during the final nights, and then she passed. TRIGGERING - Five months later, having lost my career, house, family and friends and everything else due to mental illness as well as long term mis-prescription, and also the loss of my Mum, I made a 100% attempt on my life and nearly died and was in a coma for 5 days and had many medical interventions to save me, and evidently -I lived!! I don't remember any of this but when I was coming out of the coma, I am told that I turned my head to the head of the bed and said, "Mum's standing there at the head of the bed. And she's saying, Wendy, I'm not ready for you yet". And keep in mind that on my "note" I had sepcifically said I want to go to Mum now. I am still a sceptic, but on this matter, I DO believe she was there, she was looking over me and she wasn't ready for me to come yet. It makes me cry to tell this story, but it's beautiful. |

Yes I have. And I am a sceptic, and I belive that reality is more layered that what we just see. Sound contradictory, Maybe.
People with Bipolar have tendencies to have experiences that are hard to explain, sensations that are unusual and odd perceptiul phenomenon happen to them. Why? any number of things. Our emotional centers and our frontal lobes have erratic connections, and that goes for some of the other parts of the brain as well, so we have light sensitivity, raised nervous system responses (autonomic), increased or decreased pain reactions, etc. I am hyper aware of other people; I have often picked up signals from people others have missed and made decisions on how to handle them that, if I follow those signals, have been correct. This has helped me in my work, particularly in crisis work. I hesitate to call it supernatural. Some people do not. We are very open to stimulus in the environment. I know other like myself who know something bad has happened someplace but cannot explain why; no "vibes", no "voices" or "visions" or such. I suspect that we pick up things that other people miss that are around all the time. Are they "supernatural"? Dunno. They say a corpse dog can mark weakly graves made a thousand years ago. Maybe this is something like that. But I am sure I am not a "witch", or am possessed or pulling on other powers. Just that when I am up or down, I am more apt to pay attention to something that is there all the time. That's all. HUGGGS and hope I don't freak anyone out. |

Children that have slight epilepsy can have apparent OOB experiences when slipping off to sleep like I did occasionally.
Some people are just plain sensitive. I found lonegael's explanation most interesting and Wendy's story very moving. I think it's advisable for you to tie any sensitivity of yours less to specific personalities or events, Venus. Just be yourself, in your space and time. |

VenusHalley; I also believe in ghosts etc. and am highly sensitive, but when I have had visual hallucinations of demons, ghosts, shadows, etc. it has been when I'm not well and during a mixed episode.
I don't deny that this happens for other people and it's not related to their mental illness, but my sensitivities are in the living world. I'm able to read people very well, and read animals even better ![]()

I think I live a full life, I think. I do live in the real world... but sometimes I prefer to venture to other spheres too. And some of the things just happen to me, I cannot really help it.

I have the sometimes horrible gift of being able to predict death when I see someone! These people are not "ill", when I feel this so there is no subliminal warning bell that would explain it as a sense of dread after a loved ones diagnosis for instance. For some reason when I know someone or am introduced to them, when I see or touch them I can "see", their death if it is within the year,(seems to be my timescale). I have the bad habit of answering peoples questions before they are asked and many times when the subject has not even been discussed at that point! I can spot a liar a mile away and am unsure if I can astral project or not but hey ho lol.
Interestingly my mother who has no mental health issues and does not believe in the paranormal at all has come to rely on my senses when it comes to one of her siblings being ill, so that is odd for a disbeliever but also she has admitted that my greatgrandmother was actually classed as a practicing white witch who used the crystal ball which her elder brother now has and I am desperate to get hold off but for some reason my mum keeps finding excuses not to ask him for it even though she has as much right to it as him, there is no conflict between them and he has no interest in it. My paranoia sometimes, (like now), wonders why she is so reticent on asking for it for me! Anyway, I think we are just more able to see things because we are open to them as we have to deal with all the strange things that this illness has dealt us, so are in turn more maliable when it comes to thinking outside the box so to speak. |

I thought it could be unhealthy to try & link up with the people you mentioned because they had such unhealthy attitudes.
You were given your life to seek health not unhealth, I was thinking. |

and as for spirits and ghosts... They had not been harmful for me lately, when I stopped messing with them. And living in Europe, I cannot avoid places with awful energy...

Yeah, hard to avoid places where stuff has happened. Hard to avoid pretty much everywhere, really. I preferr to leave the dead to the dead. I figure they have better things to do than hang around answering my dumb questions, and people can get sort of unhealthily obsessed with some of that stuff. (Not a referrence to anything you said really, Venus, just so you know

I'm open-minded to anything. Haven't seen spirits, but I've had some dreams that came true; ones that were completely unpredictable..

I have had moments when elements are right and my mind is in the right place where I am aware of spirits and energies, etc. I also can feel energies coming from people and houses. I would love to explore this further and see what comes out of it.

I understand the curiosity that leads you to do some dangerous experiments, but why on Earth would you call on an entity (formerly living or otherwise) that you know to be evil? You're only asking for trouble.
Due to my own curiosity, I have used a Ouija board solo, which is supposed to be a no-no; however, I call upon God and Goddess for protection, and put a circle of salt around it. If I sense an evil entity, which makes itself obvious when my hand becomes ice cold, I immediately say Goodbye. I have actually visually seen spirits twice. Once was my ex-husband's grandmother in the room in which she died; the other time it was no one I knew. I have also captured spirits on film. Photos of myself are usually surrounded by orbs. Then again, I am a Witch (Wiccan religion). I know how to do a banishing circle if things get out of hand. All I can say is be careful. If you're going to continue with spiritualism, at least do some reading and learn how to protect yourself. Negative entities can not only frighten you, but they can make mental illness 100 times worse, and can even manifest negative happenings in your life. Also, call upon positive forces (God, Goddess, angels, spirit guides, etc.) throughout the day. Make sure the spirits know which side you're on, and you're more likely to attract positive entities. No, you are not crazy. There are many other dimensions and layers of reality other than what we can see with our eyes. That's one of the main problems I have with psychology- it does not recognize the other side at all. Everything is a "hallucination" or "delusion." It's why I went so many years without getting help for my bipolar- I didn't want to be on any medication that numbed my senses. Some meds do; the one I'm on now really doesn't, so I'm happy with it. I still feel like myself, and can sense energies, but my moods are stablized. I have seen too much proof of the other side to discount it as all delusion. |

Starry... I was a teenager and I wanted to push the limits. I had the powers and I was curious... I learned since.

I dont think you are crazy either Astral Projection can show you a realm that is dark ,especially on the lower plains. Never attempt these when you are not feeling good or when you are mentally week. The plains are the levels we will follow after we pass leaving the highest, as in the highest. were we can learn new things and were we are no longer a human entity. All levels prior may be lower spirits trying to find there way. Never go to far and never leave yourself open at these points. You can channel these spirits and if you are open they can vessel. Your mind is what gives you the gift , we all have it we just need to see the signs and listen .. Your guardian angel will lead you. My last word is sometimes our mind plays tricks on us and we see what we think we see. Sometimes it is just us wanting to see it...still it is the greatest defense you have. Be safe on your travels.

I believe there are spirits and ghosts out there, but I feel much more comfortable not having had much personal experience with them - I'd be terribly scared. But I have had those feelings whereby I feel I'm being watch or that there is a presence behind me
