I have been going through a hard time ever since I was DX'd with bipolar...then I found a short term place to live before I move in with my girlfriend in a few months...now things are bordering on a hellish nightmare.

I live in a mental health zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol coop because I thought it would be a good place to live. Boy was that a mistake.

This place is crawling with drugs and alcohol. The problem is that I don't actually see the drugs, I just see the mood swings and the drug seeking behavior.

I'm trying to find a job and I feel crazy because I still have so much to learn about how this illness manifests itself (so far what I've learned, I've learned because it's been negative behavior).

I live with a paranoid schitzophrenic who is not on her anti-psychotic and I got lectured by another resident who said I need to accept people for who they are. That I think I'm better than other people. It hasn't been a very positive experience.

I also got my cell phone stolen since I've been here, and all kinds of other crazy stuff.

Wow.. it's sounds like you need to get the heck outta there ASAP. Can you move in with your girlfriend a little earlier than planned? I certainly hope you can find a way to get away from where you are now. Sending much support your way!! Good Luck!

It sounds like you need to get out of where you are living as soon as possible. It certainly does not sound like an environment that you can adjust to your new dx. Is there somewhere that you can stay unitl you can move in with your friend? Good luck with the living arrangements and hang in there. Don't fall prey to all of the drugs and alcohol that is available at your current residence. Take care.

NF~ I recently bought a book on Bipolar by Psychology today. Its got alot of great tips in there. And it talks about having/ living with BP in all aspects of your life. I thought since you said your trying to learn about it you might be interested. Just thought I would let you know. Good luck! Hope things work out better when you get to move!
