I started getting unfocused in high school before that I was in the top 10 of my class. It was like my brain just turned off I couldn't concentrate given I had a lot going on at the time such as: dr appt., counseling, court dates and so forth. I was moved from one foster home to another and I was in such a bind I didn't know what to do I just latched on to whatever I could. Then I moved to sac where I tried to go back to school but once again I had the concentration problem. I can't seem to pass a class. I never knew what was going on then I became extremely depressed I thought maybe that was it nope and just recently I separated from my husband of 7yrs. All the stress and emotion drove me to drink alot. I started to have episodes of things I can't remember my friend told me about my last one it was bad I got so scared. Then I started to look up bipolar and I had pretty much all the symptoms. My friends seem to be scared and worry for me but they all ditched me they don't text or call me back I feel so alone. My dr isn't sure I'm bipolar but I was already taking welbutrin so she added seroquel to my meds so I had to stop drinking. This is why i joined this site nobody understands me they don't know and they get tired of me I don't know what to do anymore.

Hi lokipooh; I'm glad you decided to join. You have gone through a lot in your life. Many people wait a length of time to receive a bipolar diagnosis. I couldn't tell from your post if the doctor you are seeing is a Psychiatrist, but if it isn't I would suggest that. You may also want to consider speaking to a therapist.

I would suggest tracking your mood, so you can share it with the Psychiatrist. I found a great one online at http://www.medhelp.org/land/mood-tracker

yes my doctor is a psychiatrist I've been through so many therapist over the last 10 yrs they always focused on my marriage instead of me. Although I am going back to therapy. It's very difficult for me, this transition is quite stressful.

This is a very tough illness to DX for Pdoc's. Once I got off the alcohol it became much easier for them. I am glad you are here. I also live in Sac. If you need someone to talk to ask me for my phone number and I will give it too you.

What kind of therapy are you on? If the focus is on your marriage, it seems like you would benefit more from CBT or another therapy that focuses on your behavior instead. Even if the lack of focus is ADD or another disorder, that kind of therapy is beneficial.

Well perhaps now that you're separated, the focus can be on you. I hope you find the help you need.

I hope a new T can really focus on you and the issues you are dealing with right now. It may take your pdoc a while to be able to really dx you as BP. It is not easy. Your meds seem to be a good starting base, and I hope it helps with some of your symptoms.
Keep strong and catch up with us.
Welcome to our forum - I hope it offers what you are looking for
