I am sleeping just and no more... but I cant seem to wake up naturally or by alarm... I keep going back to sleep. I am guessing its the Depakote working... as it has drowsiness as a side effect but I cant go on like this... I will need to be able to get up for work as of next Monday when I go back to work. Think I need to speak to GP and see if she can give me something

I've just had Mirtazapine and Zopiclone from my GP, I can't take the Mirtazapine until the weekend because I need to see how it will affect my work. I'm also on Diazepam and have just been taken off Trazodone. This time last year I had never been on anything, it all seems to be spiraling out of control a bit!

Ditto!
I can relate to this, though it usually isn´t really that bad. I´ve been using some alprazolam (Tafil) to help me sleep but am reluctant to take it every night since the effect diminishes with frequent use, and then I wait too long to take it and think I really shouldn´t, cause it´s so late anyhow and so on... I´m new to this site so Hi everyone :-) and good luck Laura, I know some tricks but can´t say I´m getting around to using them :-/

Hey Ineedhelp,

I too was on Mirtazipine and zoplicone too. They never worked for me. I only started taking antidepressants last October and a mood stabilizer this November. Sometimes it does seem and feel like life is spiralling out of control. I was on another sleeping tablet but that did nothing for me. I guess I am a lost case with the whole sleep thing. Hopefully I can get something from GP next Wednesday
Thanks for this!

I had horrible insomnia; unfortunately, I have to take Seroquel to keep my sleep schedule normal. I get really wild if I go without a couple of nights sleep, so it's pretty important that I sleep regularly. 200 mg is as much as I need to get myself to sleep. I am not thrilled with Seroquel, but it is what it is.

I got four hours sleep last night from the two zopiclone, I feel much better this morning and able to work. I can't believe I'm actually happy I got just 4 hours but compared to what I have been having it feels like 20 hours.
I'll start the Mirtazapine tonight as well, I just need some stable sleep then I might manage to actually enjoy Christmas.
Miss Laura, I really hope you find something that works for you. I suffer from severe migraines and was once prescribed Pizotifen (look it up online) that knocked me out for a full 10 hours but made me feel rough all day. Perhaps you could ask your GP about that drug if all else fails. I might try that if/when my new combo starts to get used to my body.

It's funny how things can change. Since 2 weeks ago, my rapid cycling has ironed out into the most stable mood I have had in 6 months. Bipolar? What's that? It seems like some long forgotten horrible dream - almost unreal now. But along with the change came heavy dreaming, several wake-ups every night, and an inability to get my corpse out of bed before 08h00, and some days before 10h00. (I usually wake up at 05h00).
Today I managed to wake at 05h00 (yeeeeehaaaaah!) and thought I was onto a good wicket. But then the tiredness hit with avengeance at 08h00. Now I am looking for match sticks to wedge my eyelids open. Even coffee is having little effect.
I'm still as ineffective at work as I was when heavily depressed.

Im with there today, Im going on 5 hrs of sleep over past two days, 12 hr working shifts inbetween and another 12 hr shift in the morning and its 3am and Im to be up by 7am. I fell asleep once tonight but was dreaming so "real" that something big was bitting my arm, at which it woke me up to realize I was digging at my arm. nothing there but the lesion I had created by digging. I agree with the others that say pressure to sleep surely creates difficulty in sleeping, I remember saying to myself I have to get some sleep tonight. Of which I did get 2 hrs. hope that counts for something in the morning. Well off to try again...good luck and sweet dreams to you. PS: maybe if I hung something over my bed to look at it would help? Ummm just thought of that.

I've tried that but it just doesn't work for me, I can't relax. Now I'm also on Pregabalin (Lyrica) for sleep, but that doesn't seem to be working either. Last night I took Zopiclone and 150mg of Pregabalin but still only got about 3 hours sleep.
