but I think I have a new symptom. I can't tell for sure, but I think my liver hurts. Has anyone had liver pain on Depakote and Lamictal? I also take Prozac and Seroquel and sometimes Trazodone.

I want off these drugs. I am starting to think that bipolar is better than these side effects in my case.

Yes, my pain is on the right, just under the rib cage. It is a dull ache on its own and is tender to the touch.

Moose, I think the spleen is on the left...

Hi, BNLsMOM! I was on Depakote for several years, not for bipolar but for neurological and psychiatric stuff. Depakote - I understand - is metabolized in the liver. After over a year of elevated liver enzymes and a liver biopsy indicating the beginning or precursors of cirrhosis, they weaned me off the drug. My liver enzyme levels have returned to normal.

Personally, I never experienced pain. The indication something was wrong came from regular blood tests.

You should see your internist or family doctor, because you could have gallstones, among other things. I would count liver pain as an unusual side effect of any medication.
