I can't tell if I am having major anxiety, or chest pain or both. I swear I am going to end up with a heart attack. I feel so nervous and I feel like there is a walnut sitting in my heart.

I am under an enormous amount of stress, but I have never had chest pains from stress before this week. I am kind of scared.

Should I do anything about it? This has been happening for days, and nothing seems to help. I am afraid to go to the hospital because there is probably nothing wrong, but I am afraid not to go in case there is something wrong. Also, if I go and there is something worng I would be ruining my family's trip to Florida. We leave Sunday.

If there really is something wrong you'd put a hitch in the vacation gitalong if you had a heart attack. That said, I can't tell you for sure of course but I've had that from anxiety and also I read it can be a side effect from drugs.

((((((((BNLsMOM)))))) I get chest pain from anxiety quite a lot. Under stress or due to anxiety, our chest muscles can become very tight and start to hurt.

However, having said that, I always get chest pain checked out, just in case. And I would encourage anyone to do the same. Please don't not go to the doctor/ER because you are worried about it being nothing. Or about spoiling plans. If it's nothing, so much the better. But if it's something, and you don't get it checked out, well, I don't even want to go there.

((((((((BNLsMOM)))))) Please take care

BNLsMOM - I had horrible chest pains on friday and saturday and i was in major panic/anxiety/sadness mode...i'm feeling a bit better and the pain has gone away...i am absolutely not trying to diagnose you, but I know you've had a lot on your plate the last few days so i'm wondering if it's the same thing. Do you have anything you can take for stress and maybe even going for a walk might help...I finally made it to the gym yesterday and just a half hour of walking made me feel so much better.
If you are really worried going to the dr/ER might ease your mind as well.
I hope you feel better soon.

now, i recognize my chest pains as anxiety, but you may want to go get checked out if you've never felt like this before. does your doctor's office have urgent care or is there an urgent care you can go to in your area? i like to use that myself, rather than the wait and drama of the er.

i usually take a hot shower or if i can go and get a massage, chamomile tea helps me too. benzos help but for me, i started to rely to heavily on them and the anxiety would just come back as soon as the benzo wore off.

My husband is getting crap at work, so he can't come early. I didn't tell him about the pains. I don't want him to get fired.

I will have to go out to get my oldest some from school in about an hour, so I will have both of them at home with me.

Just got back from ER. Everything is fine and I have to follow up with my doctor in the morning. They couldn't find a cause for the pain, which is good news because it wasn't my heart.

Go, go now & follow-up with a cardiac stress test so you know for sure it is or is not your heart. Do not be afraid, be smart!

That is what the doc at the ER suggested, that I might need a stress test or one of those things that you wear and it does an EKG all day.

My doctor didn't think that a stress test was necessary, but she thought she heard a murmur or a click, so she wants to send me to get an echocardiogram tomorrow morning.

Pain is worse tonight, and I am dizzy. I think I am just having a perpetual panic attack. I am also terribly depressed and broken hearted. (seems that last one is literal)

I get my echo tomorrow so hopefully it will show nothing.

Please keep us updated. I hope your test goes well today, Im sending my health wishes your way. I've read your other posts, and surely you are under lots of stress. I'm sure your cardologist will advise you that you need to find a positive outlet for your stress or it will continue to haunt you in physical form.

Oh, PS: if he tells you that you have a "leaky valve" (specially mitral valve) this is a normal abnormality in about 80% of people. Don't get to "worried" over it.

My chest still hurts and it has spread a bit. It is more constant than it was, but all my tests showed that I am OK. What is going on? I wonder if I should go back to the hospital or just wait it out.

I know the feeling. I went to the emergency room with chest pains and they thought it was from anxiety. I get chest pains all the time. About 4 years ago I had my chest opened up and they replaced my aortic valve with a mechanical aortic valve. I have to take blood thinners for the rest of my life and every month have my blood checked for thickness. Anyway I had my Psych give me a prescription for Ativan (Lorazepam) which seemed to help my anxiety. I also take Percocet (Oxycodone) and Tramadol everyday for my back pain that helps the chest pain along with Effexor (Venlafaxine) and Wellbutrin (Bupropion) to cope with my depression and Combat PTSD that I'm not sure if it helps my chest pain or not. I have been taking these for 5 years.
