I know I am swinging back into a mixed stated (just got out of it) because of lack of sleep. What I am curious is if you hear voices that aren't coming from anything or anybody, but they are not talking to you or you keep hearing your phone ring, is that as bad as hearing voices that are talking to you?

As bad? A hallucination is a hallucination. Know it's one or think it's real- still a hallucination. Can you call your pdoc to let them know tomorriw? You know you're hallucinating so that's good. :-)

Ok. That makes sense. I was already planning on calling my pdoc in the morning. Thank you.

When I get the ugly type, that is when I run for my Seroquel, and don't mind telling my pdoc about them. But antipsychotics render me totally useless, so I don't take them unless the water is really hot, in which case I'm pickled either way. Hope that helps TS

I have a brief ones (hearing some snippets of talk, or phone ring... so on) when tired. I blame them on living in crowded space and being around people too much, when I need peace and quiet.
It depends if it bothers you. If you can say "oh, I keep hearing and seeing ****, I am tired", that it may not be as bad. It's a quirk of a mind. If it bothers you... reach out.

the scary ones for me aren't voices. they're hard to explain, basically i get scared of anything red, or that things are going to blow up, or that i'm being watched and others know my thoughts. |

Part of me knows these sounds aren't real, but part of me keeps believing them when i hear them. I can be holding the phone in my hand and looking at it and hear it ring even though i can see there is no one calling. I hear people talk from behind me or just out of direct sight, either from the answering machine or as if they were standing there and just talking to themselves. I know no one is there since I am home alone but it doesn't stop the voices and the sounds. Even though I know that they aren't real I still have to look just to make sure because there is some part of me that believe the sound and needs proof that it didn't happen. I called the doc and am waiting on a return cal because of it.
Thank you to everyone who responded. Your thoughts were helpful. |

I agree that there can be benign hallucinations. I hear my husband's ring tone and think he's calling, but I don't even have that ring tone anymore and haven't for a really long time.

hi, new here but thought ide reply that I hear radio stations in my head or tv shows, havent heard them in awhile but it happens more often when i havent slept well. I have occasionally heard someone call my name or a scream but I know that its not real. Ive heard the radio stations so clearly that i cant tell if the radio is really on or not. my psych dr knows about it, but anyhow thats my expirience with hallucinations that are auditory.

I hear my mom call my name sometimes, but she died in 1983, so I know it's nothing to respond to. Nothing more comes of it.
