I hate when the deep depression hits. This weekend I barely got out of bed. This week I barely made it to group, and wasn't even looking forward to work. Which is bad, because I enjoy my job. I'm about out of groceries, but can't convince myself to go to the store. And if I do, I'm afraid I'll just get a lot of unhealthy foods, and overeat.

How long do the lows usually last for you all? I rarely hit bottom like this, and have no idea when it'll lift (at least a lil)

My lows can vary. Sometimes they only last a weekend, other times they can last for months. I also get that awful leaden feeling and at its worst, I can barely lift a pen to write. Sometimes it takes a med adjustment to bring me out of it, while other times I can simply wait it out for a few days.

Do you have someone who could help you with the shopping this week? Do you have a pdoc you could check in with? At times like this, it's important to have some sort of in-person support. My husband makes sure I'm eating and checks in to make sure I'm feeling safe (though when I'm that leaden, I wouldn't be able to do anything in the first place). If you do feel able to go to the store, try to go with a list and do your best to stick to it. Oh, and don't go to the grocery store hungry - that's the first thing that sets me up for sabotage.

I hope you are able to pull out of this soon.

thanks dragonfly2. I understand about going to the store hungry, I make that mistake too often. But I don't plan on grocery shopping until the depression lifts some, unless absolutely necessary. The healthier food I usually get just doesn't appeal right now

As for in-person support, none at the time. My son does call most nights but my rental setup doesn't make having company over really possible grrr. If my disability goes through, I'll def be changing that. Anyway, even though I have a few friends, I'm not comfortable asking for help.

So I'll messing around with puzzles or games today, and not sure bout tomm yet.

I seem to have two kinds of lows and highs...ones brought on by bipolar which have no definitive time frame (but probably months) and then the lows and highs brought on by my emotional intensity which bounce me up and down ... kind of like a sine wave riding on another sine wave ... if you can picture that. I think these two together produce my "rapid cycling"

If you need help with shopping, just ask...ok...We'll figure something out...

I never seem to notice the constant mood changes from the borderline. But once the deep depression of bipolar hits, it's hard not to realize it. Just hard to work back out of.
