My therapist had asked me about being Bipolar. He asked me about racing thoughts and I said I was not having any. But then, I asked if I could be having racing thoughts and not know it?
He said it's possible. I did notice I was having racing thoughts last night. I noticed, but not sure it causes me to be manic as other things are going on to cause mania.

I'm confused. I see a new pdoc the end of June. I am currently tapering off benzo's. Have not been on meds for a yr. The T is thinking I might need meds bc I am not sleeping but 3 or less hours a night and that's been happening for almost 60 days!!

I felt so depressed today. But so much is happening, I don't know what to call it or what's the cause.
I know when I get depressed I want to go away. I can't or won't allow myself to cry. I feel like running away.

Then I walk 4 1/2 miles 4 days a week. I lost 20 lbs and I am eating better. But nothing is changing anything...
I'd like to know your experiences.. Thanks in advance..

Hi Tina. The lack of sleep may be causing the issues. I've never been on benzos, but I think insomnia is one of the withdrawal symptoms. It would be difficult to know if the benzos caused the symptoms or if it is bipolar or some other MI. Perhaps by writing out any symptoms you've had in your past (prior to being on benzos) to see if there was a pattern to it. I hope seeing the pdoc will help.

Being aware of symptoms as blueoctober mentions can certainly be helpful. Your post is kind of rushed and covers a variety of topics...so you may have never named it that before but I would call that racing thoughts...

For me picture a plasma ball and then touching it ... it lights up with a bunch of random electricity...that's the best way I can explain my experience with racing thoughts.
